6-speed tC1 swap kit
really would like to see a dyno sheet or a video of your car. Never seen or heard of a auto passing 250hp without having crazy slippage.
I daily my auto on 11-16 and occasionally go to 18-20... My auto is fine. Slipping a tad when shifting to second but nothing that bad. Pretty simple to hit 300-350 region with a cooler and valve body and still have the car run fine for a long time. Heck on mine the engine blew before the transmission. My main issue right now is that my injectors and turbo are too small to get me to 400whp, and not that the transmission is not able to hold what I am putting down.
On the topic of the thread I would like to see how far along this is seen as I will be doing my swap sometime in the coming weeks; Should I buy my 5 speed parts now or wait for this to be released.

dont get me wrong its iffy at best...mostly what iv seen is the transmissions reluctance to shift properly. Obviously there will be some slippage. I think the point Hix is trying to make is that alot of people have the idea in their head that if you go over 250hp on an auto its going to instantly blow up and leave you stranded. This has never been the case in any of the turbocharged auto's I have tuned to date. I really beleave that we need more dyno info to really show just how much an auto tranny can take and still drive away like nothing ever happend.
With out a doubt damage is being done to the transmission in the upper hp range, I dont think there is a debate there.
Kyle has taken this all in as a challenge and I applaud him for going against the grain.
While not the greatest idea in the world and may not work out very well there will be alot to be learned.
If we go through the paces on His project I beleave we will find out a few new tricks to get the auto tranny to hold a bit more power. Atleast this is the goal.

^^ Lol I have asked a few people because I can't decide to beef up the turbo, do the suspension, or swap the trans (again not because it hasn't treated me well so far but because I want to push the 400 mark), and people keep saying trans without hesitation. I still personally would rather do a new turbo and swap the i/c pipes then get a spare auto to build. A auto trans is so damn cheap that I can buy several to keep as spares.
The auto to 6 speed swap is a big enough boost to consider the trans swap at the top of my personal want list; that is why I was following this.
BTW: I would be down for a dyno day after I fix all the issues I am having now; like the power steering leaking, no a/c, hatch struts blown, turbo seals starting to leak, i/c pipes looking retarded, etc.
ON-TOPIC: Come on Rob give us an update
Maybe a 6 speed auto swap too. We know that they are direct bolt on to the engine and would just need ecu adjustments and motor mounts.
