Default AEM TRUboost

So I got my TRUboost programmed finally... When I crank it up to 10 PSI (17% duty cycle) I can get 10 PSI pretty much as soon as I stomp the pedal but it makes a wooshing and fluctuates quite a bit. I will range from 7.8ish to 10.01 PSI and the car responds in kind with the sound. Really feels weird. Is it possibly a bad solenoid or a bad wastegate? Or is it a fail AEM design?

Search fu in here and google failed me.

is ur tc a 07-09? if so u need to tap the boost source from the brake booster because for some reason taping the evap will give u fluctuations in readings

well he said the car make a whooshing sound and the car reacts when the sound comes my guess is....his wastegate is opening and closing as it pleases, open up the wastegate and inspect everything is tight...

Wastegate internals look good but they are pretty worn. I might upgrade to a Tial and a 10psi spring, can't afford it right now though. I have a problem on the straight spring set up too, I get 6PSI from the second I touch the pedal down but don't get past it until peak RPM.

ok i just read the details quick.. i will read it again lol.. some questions, how much did you set your wastegate crack/spring pressure? is it like a sound like opening and closing of wastegate? i noticed that on the aem truboost at certain setting.. what size wastegate? and spring?

^^ what he said + 8.7psi

The old style Evolution WG. The solenoid knocks like crazy and I hear a woosh woosh woosh woosh kinda like someone is blowing and moving their tounge (hard to explain). It is my PSI goes to max boost at like 2k RPM and then fluxuates like mad.

to be honest truboost is not the best boost controller there is, it doesnt give a steady all flat boost control but you can get it close.. i would only rate it 7/10. that issue could be several things, if you want to rule out that its the controller.. try boosting with it and just boost through atmosphere. It could be the wastegate spring pressure setting or your duty cycle setting in relation to the stiffness of your spring.. the wastegate size and time of dump tube could also affect that..

Ok try this,

1. boost without it... does boost stay consistent? stays at around your spring rate are 8.7 to 9.5ish psi? If its not consistent that could be your problem right there or if its something minor it could add to the boost controller issue

2. Try to check your wastegate lines if theyre all good.

3. try playing with the spring rate/wg crack setting, to high would cause boost to be bouncing and too low could slow down boost build up. Try putting up the setting to 20% too.

4. Switching your vacuum source of your top and bottom wg lines might be something you want to try..

On mine on very low setting of duty cycle, it kinda makes the wastegate open and close while boosting and it makes that woosh woosh sound, boost fluctation is seen on data log but its not too bad on mine though. I think when that happens is that spring and the pressure press against it is fighting, you can make better by playing with the settings.. Or could happen if boost pressure on the lines are inconsistent or pulsating

1) No it sits around 6.5psi and only hits 8ish before a shift.

2) They look good, no leaks that I can see.

3) I am gonna try that too I have it set at 8.6 right now, 20% would give me like 11 something psi.

4) I followed the picture but it's not hard to swap em'.

And whoever it was who asked what size Turbo it is it's a very very very tiny Turbonetics turbo. t3/t04B 50 or something like that
