Nope. I'm Korean (half) but my dad was in the military, so I lived in the PI from 83-91, up until Mount Pinatubo erupted and we had to leave.

So meaty you were a victim of that volcano?
Not so much a victem. My dad was pretty high ranking, so they told us the weekend before that there was a chance of an erruption taht weekend, so they put us all up in the Philipine Plaza in Manila.
It blew that weekend. The base we were at was not in the lava flow, but the ash fallout from the explosion blackened the sky for 4 straight days, and the ash falling down was so widespread and so much that many houses and hangers caved in from the shere weight off all the ash on it.
Planes were grounded, so we were stuck in Manila for about a month. Even that far out, the sky was black and we got ash on our balcony.
We checked out our place a while later, to see if we could salvage anything, and our house was at the top of the hill, so it wasnt' completel burried like other houses were, but everything was trashed.
Havent' been back since. My parents went back once and they said it's just not the same.

are you filipino too, like mr meaty, alohalo, and me? and forpinks, i think..
I remember that eruption I was 10-11... It looked and sounded like hell, But it was hella fun seeing ashes/sand fall and crazy colored lightning out of the sky! (Oh, and schools are cancelled for like a month since the school roofs collapsed.)
(My family wasn't scared since we live in a cement roofed house and it's covered with steel flashings at a 45 degree angle and the ashes just piled up outside. we only had to use a broom to take out some left overs at the roof.)
But, our neighbors are all like (Holy Jesus! Where gonna die!!!) A lot of them where praying for their souls and I think one family dad in our neighborhood died when he went back inside their house to get some money then suddenly the roof collapsed.)
Anyway, Meaty, did your dad used work at the Air Force Base at Clark???
I just want you to know that I see a lot of street racing going on around there and their syndicated by local cops.
Mostly Civics, Corollas and Lancers. I've actually watched twice and it's track style racing, they go around the base at like 1-3 AM and they make a route every other race. we had to pay P100 for each spectator.

FMtC:
I'm not filipino. I'm Korean. And I thought olaHalo was black?
pinks: Yeah, my dad was stationed at clark for about 8 years. Is that what their doing on the base now, racing? I heard they wanted to turn it into an airport but could not get the funding.

To Meaty,
Yes they do syndicated (by cops) street racing on the base streets. (you can go top speed on the main road that looks like a highway that's about 4 miles I think)
The air strip has flights for mini commercial planes and I think our @hole President lands there. (they renamed the airport with the name of her @hole father)
The only things that sucks are when you watch a street race, they only allow cellphone cams that doesn't do well to take pics of cars or those @ hole cops! Oh, and the U.S. Gov. forgot to take care of those old asbestos wrappings on the base pipings at the shops and oil pipelines and those junk yard peeps stole em after the move out and now they're dead! (So, kids don't steal other peoples stuff or you DIE!) :b
And I thought olaHalo is Hispanic? But his black???
