Dont buy the used ZPI kit,

Do it right the first time instead of being in a hurry to be boosted. You will be thankful down the road.

Buy this manifold and a turbo and weld the other components yourself.

You will be much happier with this setup than the ZPI, plus you will have more money in your pocket down the road.

Cause when you go to sell the zpi stuff it will be worth less than what you are buying it for.

Regardless

Happy boosting and good luck

FYI....the Kit he is referring to buying is mine. PS...every kit is worth less, not sure where you were going with that mention. The only component in a turbo kit that is considered a depreciating value is the turbo itself. Everything else is metal. Rebuild a turbo, or buy a new one (value stays the same).

Sorry Travis had no idea.....but it wouldn't have changed my post.

I responded to what he wrote.....he wants this(yours ie zpi kit) and that(Boostflow manifold)......he could save money in the long run by purchasing this manifold and a turbo that fits especially if he can weld his own dp and chargepiping. He would be much happier with this than your used ZPI setup. (no offense)

Value is not the same.....not at all.

Especially when in your case......none of the ZPI kits came with new turbos to start with. They were all used rebuilt units.

But that doesnt matter anymore.

My turbo is not rebuilt one. TD06 20G, that I didn't even get from ZPI. Secondly Turbochargers.com provided the turbines for the ZPI kits if I recall correctly. Yeah, I'm sure they sold all refurbished turbos. On another note, my kit has changed from what ZPI originally installed. If you want to check it out, click the link in my sig.

And lets say Hypothetically my old 16G WAS a rebuild, I raced it from day one for about 2 years. Pretty good rebuilt turbo huh? Seen other kits blow seals on the turbo in shorter time.

Travis-

dont take anything I wrote personally. I wasnt bashing anything. Plus when I first posted I had no idea it was your kit.

Having said that....

As you are a proud member of this community and many consider "educated" in the forced induction aspects of the TC.

If it wasn't your kit would you not agree with me?

Would you tell another member to buy a used kit for x amount of money over purchasing new parts with the ability to save money by being able to fabricate their own parts?

(Those new parts being of equal or superior quality.)

Just trying to get an idea of where you stand and what are your true "interests" for the community.

Todd

I look at it this way. Say there is a Dezod kit being sold for $1,500. But the turbo was blown. Buying the kit that is fully completed for $1,500 and then a new turbo from where ever say $400, puts you WELL under the price of a new kit, or the hassle of fabricating something else.

In those situations, I say go for it. If the kit is crap though, and it takes more work than the price is worth then no.

OK...

now lets put it to this exact situation.

How much are you selling your kit for?(is it $1500.00) The turbo is blown correct?

will continue after I get that info

Ok..thank you

I think Travis knows where this is headed.

And its probalby not a good idea to turn this thread into an argument.

Needs to go back on topic about Boostflows manifold being an option for the TC community.

Todd

I sure do.

The fabricator and myself never worked together.

The Arizona group as I refer to it is a small community. We all have come out of one spot or another. Full-Race or Peakboost. I am the only lucky one(lol) who has had the privilege of working for both.

In the end it really doesnt matter if we know each other or not.

All it means is more options for the Scion community that has 2 manufacturers in close proximity to each other.

I can say this.....AZ has done ALLOT for the Sport Compact Community
