Building for More boost....
OK as most of you already know i was the person that took a Zpi stage 1 turbo kit and went 12.7 with a 10.4afr.... well i like to race if its at a track or on the streets either way i was racing 3 times a week. so well long story short i was starting to get blow by
must have been the 11.5psi I was runing
well i did all the proper test and nothing was showing but i said Frig it i'm going to go fast so i decided to buy pistons, rings, rods, main and rod bearings, main seal, head gasket, and some good ol' arp head studs.... well i am doin the build with 2 of my friends this week and hopefully have it together for a proper break in b4 i go and upgrade turbo and get it tuned and hopefully put down some 11's at the track this season b4 its over.... i will be taking pics of the build and updating as i go........

so, you were running a 10.4 afr which is conservative for that boost, but what kind of timing were you hitting?? Im willing to bet that had a lot to do with your slow failure.
ok took motor apart and piston ring glands where broke not good means in time could have probley came apart and seized....... any way everything else was perfect inside bearings looked PERFEct..... well got everything balanced meaning pistons, rods, rings, bearings, crank pully, crank, flywheel, and clutch. And guesssss what ? I guess aftermarket rods don't fit perfect in our blocks
yep thats right its not a mis print i have the carrillo rods and they don't clear the bottom of the block and i called Carrillo them selves and they were shocked and then gave me the number to race engineering to see what to do because thats who gave them the specs for the rods.... well i did and i talk to a man named John well he wasn't the coolest guy i have talked to b4 he told me if i was an engine builder then i would know that all aftermarket rods don't fit perfect and i would have to Notch the block
. Well me and my friends have indeed built motors b4 and i have never had to do this with replacement rods only with a stroker kit well besides that i notched the block everything clears and the car should be running tonight not to bad from a person that hasn't ever built a motor b4
i will be takeing my pics and putting them on computer asap....

ringland failure...tell tale signs of to much timing...be careful on your next tune, wouldnt wanna throw all that money down the drain that you just spent on the rebuild. Sounds like your on your way to having a monster though
8-10 psi is what people are running curently. I know scionspeed took theres up to 17 and the problem they had was the head lifting. the block took it but how long is another storry.
any way I was just curious (wondering what the max people have gone to), got to pay to play.
