Timing numbers are not magical and are very contingent upon the user's setup and fuel used. Stock on this engine sees about 18-22 degrees at WOT. This still holds true approximately until 6 PSI or so on the average setup with a log manifold.

I've got a nice GT30R sitting here waiting for some other parts to go with an Alpha on a local car. ;)

Notice the true stainless steel turbine V-band inlet and outlet. This has a sick turbine A/R too.

Stay tuned for more on this build.

Why go GT30 when the GT35 has been used with very reasonable spool time?

the GT30 will handle 500 whp... are you planning on going higher?

I'm just curious to the advantages of a 30 vs 35 seeing that spool times are comparable and there's no upcharge with the Alpha kit to get either. Thermal efficiency would imaginably be better in the higher horse power range... Plus leave room to go higher. That's my thought process; I wanted to know more of the advantages since I'm approaching this crossroad soon. I'm no judging or being a wise guy.

I agree 100% Brian. He was worried about spool and he says he feels "safer" being on a stock engine with the 30R despite what I had spoken to him about numerous times.....To each their own. It's his $....

Well I can start with the basics.....

The new alpha series includes a longer SS braided oil feed line, which will have to be substituted in place of the one we include with the S1. We also include a push lock rubber SS drain line as well, which needs to be substituted in place of the one we include with the S1 as well.

The stock intake pipe is no longer needed due to the new turbo placement and MAF needing to be relocated.

We relocated the MAF onto the pipe going into the TB for a blow-through setup to make tuning with the APR X1 easier.

We re-fabbed the lower hot side IC pipe to the turbo to fit the new turbo placement.

That is where we are at at the moment. I will post pics in a bit.

Yes. With current angle of fittings needed and such the SS braided to be on a machine crimped line would be 2" of SS braided which makes very hard to produce. Rubber was a viable substitute.

Here is the new upper charge pipe with BOV and MAF on it.

Note we had to change the diameter of this pipe to 2.5" because a smaller 2.25" MAF pipe would skew the results of the MAF readings. Because the X1 uses the stock MAF, we had to take that extra measure. Had we been using a speed density setup like Haltech, AEM EMS, Hydra etc...the MAF pipe diameter would not make a difference. The MAP sensor is what is reading pressure, not the MAF.

Here is the new lower hot side charge pipe compared to the S1 original. Minor change as you can see.....The S1 original is on top, while the new one is on the bottom.

is the maf and BoV located on the underside of the charge pipe or are you routing it through the fender?
