Default Dyno pic of 11psi!!!

We took this dyno last week but never posted the results (my fault guys!).

We left iginition timing pulled back. Even TRD says to pull timing at lower boost levels on a S/C so we've been doing this since last October. The AFR is actually richer than what it shows on the graph. We used a W/B in the muffler AND before the S-Pipe. The muffler W/B is what is shown here on the graph. At lower RPMS it wasn't too accurate, and at higher RPMS it was more accurate, but leaner that what it really was. This is due to our muffler design (lack of a canister). It's very similiar to a TRD muffler so we couldn't really get the A/F probe much deepere than just the tip of the exhaust. Luckily, our AEM wideband is installed and we went by that. We tuned it for an 11.2-11.7 AFR. This depends on RPM and boost. The only other change now was a new intercooler (smaller than before, but a more efficent bar and plate system), and we're now running open dump on the wastegate. The results were good. 281.4WHP, 293WTQ. This is on a Dynomite Dyno. It is a load based dyno (unlike the dynojets out there) and typically reads lower numbers than most dyno's out there. It is much more accurate to tune with though, because you can simulate street load conditions.

Enjoy the pic, any questions please ask.

We (I basically forced Paul haha) just wanted to prove that we could get some decent numbers out of the core emanage. With ignition pulled back, running rich, with a 2.5" exhaust, I'd say we made some really good power for 11psi, on a turbo that makes peak torque just under 4k rpms.

The new EMS is ready to be installed. It's mainly the 24/7 rain I've been getting that keeps me from even trying anything. It's supposed to rain until next tuesday, so after that I'll see how fast we can get it released to the public. BUt yes the new system does do a lot of datalogging.

Our runs were all within about 3hp, and 3wtq, assuming we made no change tot eh AFRS. When we dyno'd about 10-12 times in a row without cooling the car off, it would lose about 5whp towards the end, for the obvious heat reasons. But at normal temps it was very consistent.

I love how we make just as much/or little more tQ to go with our HP #'s. Makes me enjoy the fact we choose the tC over an RSX even more. I would love to see what #'s we put down on the dyno. Haven't gotten a chance to yet.

have you heard detonation without pulling timing ? I dont see what taking timing out if there is no sign of detonation would help . I dont know if you are checking the actual timing or not but with that open gate the knock sensor might be pulling timing on its own .

The TRD blower and ecu flash setup even pulls timing. That system flows less CFM and at lower boost. We pulled timing on a small scale, and left the timing stock for sub 6psi boost levels. We pull timing only as needed. We're looking to preserve engine life without sacraficing unnecessary power.

I can definately agree with you that the torque advantage is great. My buddies and their turbo honda's love the feeling of my car. Granted they can't hang with me anyway, they LOVE the gobs of torque I can make at lower rpms haha.

It may be possible. If it worked well enough I don't think Toyota would have reflashed the ECU to pull timing at all. We left the differences small, but we figure better safe than sorry. I suppose that beyond our settings, if there ever was any knock due to specific conditions, we'd have a small back up to somewhat minimize the issue. I can say that runniing over 10psi on stok timing is a big problem regardless. The WOT trim is locked in the ECU. It makes corrections to the long term and short term trims, but at WOT it's locked. The only thing that changes it is if you throw a CEL or not. With a CEL, the computer automatically enrichens the fuel mixture to play it safe, in case something is wrong. We simply force the locked trim to run with more retarded timing then what's out of the box from the factory.
