EGT gauge troubles
My pyrometer gauge needle jumps around a lot.....going from a correct reading down to 0.....then halfway...back to 0....to a correct reading....you get the idea...
Could a dirty sensor be causing this? Or do you think it's more likely a bad/intermittent electrical connection?
Any insight would be appreciated!

I could be wrong though, there could be other thing causing it to drop to 0, but its ideal to put the EGT sensor on the manifold before the turbo, its where the heat is at its peak
The location won't make the readings jump... it'll just be about 100-200*F cooler than if you had it on the manifold.
Try taking the sensor out and looking at it.. Maybe wipe it down with a rap and reinstall. I would also double check your electrical connections.

Mine does the same thing. I didn't have time the last time I was in the states to fix it, too busy doing other things to the car. I agree with everyone else its an electrical connection. If it were the sensor it wouldn't be jumping back and reading normal, it would be reading low, high, or not at all.
