did you put a new manifold gasket in there when you swapped your header?

it was probably stuck on your original header.

 

i think i can do the same thing.. if it were leaking badly im sure ur valve cover would be black though.

 

I have the factory gasket on, but should I have those lil gaps around the header? did you have to replace the oem gasket when change the header, i know ideally you have to but i know most reuse them.. hopefully its not my manifold having uneven surface

 

I used a new gasket.. I didn't want to take any chances.

If you're leaking exhaust, your head and VC would be covered in soot..

Also, you can let your car idle and feel in those areas for air pulses..

 

theres no soot on the valve cover but i could see black deposit build up where the gaps are.. when it was installed we also sprayed that copper gasket thing and i noticed a few of those stuff came out to the sides.. last time i checked i didnt feel any air from there on idle so i didnt worry bout it much, not sure on boost though

 

If you see any soot then you have an exhaust leak.

And as you know any exhaust leak before the turbo is devastating to power output.

 

Ace - I would remove the manifold, plug your exhaust ports with shop rags, and take some sand paper and clean up the mating surface on the head. Put on a new OEM manifold gasket. Double check the flatness of your manifold with a straight-edge and re-install.

 

i dont think it leaks a lot though, but it prolly will leak more wile on boost but we'll see how things will do.. i just fixed the turbo-manifold leak where i felt some faster response, now this and that leak prolly did a really bad combination considering they're both before the turbo

 

Yeah - but if it were me, this is one I'd definitely fix ASAP.

yup - anybody that sees any black deposit anywhere where the exhaust parts get bolted .... thats a leak. The best thing is the muffler shops can put new gaskets for you and they put a gel on there which also helps. I am all about fixing things on my own but they can have this done for you in 15min at a shop .... When I had my other resonator put in I think the guy replaced all my gaskets and it was an extra $20 or so. well worth it (and at the time i didnt even know i had a few leaks).
