F/I kit question
im not sure if this has been asked but i couldn't find anything on it, is it more cost effective to buy everything for a turbo kit separately yourself or is it not worth the effort.
if you know where and how to shop for turbo items it could be substantially cheaper, but if you only know the basics then buying a full kit from places like dezod, turbo toyotas, or just buying the greddy kit and buying the fuel and EM for it.
stay away from kits sold on ebay, they usually use cheap material and fitment is way off.

i don't think i would trust myself putting a kit together so what kit would i find the best price on, im not looking to run crazy boost or high HP.. 8psi and under 300 hp would be fine i just wanna have the option of bumping it up if i have to. so i would need to boost control. what would you recomend
Dezod's kit would be your best bet then. And I'm only saying this instead of TT's Simple Kit because TT has had trouble getting stuff out the door. Both kits are very similar and will make similar power.
But remember you need a few things before boosting.
1.) Clutch ~ $370 (You'll need atleast a Stage 3)
2.) Gauges ~ $xxx (You need atleast a boost gauge to start. I would recommend a wideband O2 gauge too)
3.) Engine mounts ~ $150 (or you can just fill in your stock ones. This is just an option)
Then after you get the kit, you'll need atleast another $500 for tuning.

Horror stories usually involve:
1.) incorrect installation
2.) poor tuning
3.) no tuning
4.) no common sense
A used kit is just basically used pipes/metal. Just make sure the turbo itself is in good working condition. Check for shaft play (does it move from side to side) and see if it spins freely.

most people that sell used turbos on this site are in good condition...Just make sure u read and make sure that you may have to get something ie injectors or what not..Its going to be cheaper but i would say look at that first..Then dezod is ur best bet and you can add on the clutch and what not to your order...
I'm not replacing a perfectly good clutch until it needs to be. I don't beat on my car regularly, but I have ripped on it pretty well, and the stock clutch seems to be holding quite well......FOR NOW! LOL!!
I was one of those links brett posted. Todd at TurboToyotas will vouch for me. My kit is in 100% PERFECT working order in fact its still on the car running strong im just waiting for a buyer so I can remove and ship it.
My kit comes with gauges and a tune (no guarantee the tune will run the same on your car) but your tuner will have a really nice base map to go off of.
Check out that link, kit is 5 months and 6k miles old or should i say new. Only selling to pay off credit card debt as im getting an apartment.
Spread the word!!! LOL
BTW all 5 months of 310whp and 300wtq have been on the stock clutch!!! =)
