No so long as the other precautions are taken to remove the harmonics of the engine in the rotating assembly

no ati dampener for me, but crank is getting rebalanced. Block is at the machinist until Friday. I'll probably be doing some of the assembly work this weekend so I'll be sure to post more pics.

Old tranny will be kept as a spare i guess, gears are ok minus a few rounded corners, synchros are dead though. Axle is still stuck in there in those pics, we tried everything to get it off and eventually ended up grinding it.

i just had them rebalance my crank after they took the balance shaft gear off, as well as weight matching the pistons and rods.

Thanks for the info Don and Gingles, the machine shop called today to say my block is done and they also asked if I needed the balancing and weight matching done, so i have to drop the parts off at a shop down the block from the machine shop for that work.

Looks like engine is held up at the machine shop till Monday, i rather had them do it right than do it fast, anything else you guys can think of I might need to check or get done before I start piecing everything together?

note: the balancing of the crank and piston/rod weight matching will be done after machining, so thats off the list.

i also got my bearings a tad over spec to run 10w30 oil....and there calico coated. hmm what else....you also need to run 5 quarts of oil instead of 4.5 due to the turbo and balance shaft removal. thats all i can think of off hand

yes removing shafts, plugging hole, getting gear removed off the crank.

So I thought I would update you guys on what has been going on. When they say don't boost on a budget they mean it! Many things came up while doing the engine, found out i need even more stuff.... just put in an order to dezod for arp main studs, acl thrust, main, and rod bearings. Also waiting on a new sleeve for the engine, the machine shop found that one of them was pitted after they did the bore/hone. Sleeve should be coming in today, machine shop should be done with the block and resurface the head by the weekend. After that I will start on putting the engine back together. Also got the gear for the balance shafts shaved off the crank, and had them balance crank, pistons, and rods. More coming soon
