i knew there had to be an easier way lol! Thats in a perfect world though. Maybe I'll just take a meguires power cone to it and call it done

 

what i do even if its turned all nasty is use barkeepers friend, a little water and a rag. that gets off the discoloration then i hit it with my mothers power cone with turtle wax brand polishing compound. it takes time but if the surface is smooth i try not to scuff it up with sandpaper unless i got to.

 

Haha, ya I would take the powder cone to it too and call it a day

Although the balance shaft gear isn't removed, crank was rebalanced taking it into consideration so still good.

I just picked up all new seals from the dealership yesterday definitely won't forget that o-ring. Polishing up the cam journals now, then a final check of things before final assembly.
