Default Greddy or ZPI turbo

I'm almost ready to go turbo and I'm trying to decide on Greddy or possibly a ZPI stage 1. If I buy Greddy, I'm probably going to skip out on the 440 injectors fuel options in favor of some 550 and pick up the fuel management from somewhere else for a stage 1 style setup (10-12psi). I really like the look of the Greddy setup (manifold) and don't know to much about the benifits of a ball bearing turbo over ZPI's 16g turbo. I just know ZPI's 16g kit has been proven and a lot of you are running them. Either way I plan to have ZPI install and tune it with their stage 2 small block. Any advice before I make a final decision on a turbo kit. Thanks for any opinions and help on this one.

What waistgate and BOV does the Greddy kit come with??? They don't advertise this on their parts listing on anyones setup.

Its all about how much $$ you want to spend. The Greddy kit without management is $2404 shipped from TPDracing.

The greddy comes with and Internal WG set at 8.5psi. And it comes with no BOV.

I purchased PnP 550's from Deatschwerks.com and bought my emanage seperate as well. And i got an HKS SSQV and a flange to weld on.

Dezod's tech page has the Greddy base maps available so you can run your car at least.

Ive spent under $3300 for a complete turbo kit.

Very nice man, I'm doing the same thing with my tC.

Greddy FTW!

See I might just go with ZPI since everything I'm doing is basicly going to be done by them. I just like the tubular manifold of the Greddy kit. Now how easy is it to adjust the internal wastegate on the Greddy? Like I said I'm looking for 10-12psi.

Can anyone help me out with comparing these two turbos??? ZPI's isn't ball bearing, does this really matter?

You just buy an MBC, ZPI sells those. They can turn the boost up to 10psi with a few turns of the manual boost controller

the greddy 18g and the ZPI GT 16g are both not ball bearing. They flow close in CFM as well, I doubt you will be able to tell a difference.

Thanks for the info. My friend is really trying to get me to pick up a turbonetics kit like him because of the ceramic ball bearing feature. Just got done doing some research and some searches on here and found some people are having problems with the waistgate opening after cranking up the boost and creating some sizeable surges. Well, ZPI is sounding more and more like a better option for what I'm looking for.

now hold on a sec.. if you get 550cc instead of greddy's 440, the basemap will be even MORE rich than the extremely rich conditions it's at with the 440 cc injectors.... not a smart idea

That's why I would have it tuned. I wouldn't even think of putting any turbo or F/I setup on my car without doing so. Something a lot more people should take in mind before just bolting on a turbo.

You can adjust the injectors with the software. Its not hard.

but, it will still idle and run at partial throttle much richer than with 440cc injectors (which is what greddy designed the kit to run on)

Not really, changing the injector sizing in the parameter settings will adjust to the map. Still advised to get tuned though.

Its not about tuning idle. Changing the parameter settings from 440cc to 550cc is not hard and it will still idle like it should.

Just get the ZPI kit. ZPI is also talking about a possible tubular exhaust manifold as a possible upgrade/replacement for the regular log manifold. The Greddy kit is nice but if you plan on using it either modify the manifold for a external waste gate or modify the stock turbo internal waste gate flapper to a larger one.
