Thumbs down HELP!!! nasty CELs keep coming and going away...

for the past 2 days...i've been getting the following codes:

P0012 CAMSHAFT ACTUATOR A, TIMING RETARD
P0335 CRANK POSITION SENSOR MALFUNCTION
P0138 02 CIRCUIT HIGH VOLTAGE (I already know that one...faulty wires)

I'm running a custom t3/t4 turbo kit with 550cc injectors...and an AEM FIC

Any ideas would be great guys!!!

So my boomslang probably never needed them in the first place lol!
It's actually only 2 months old...so maybe Dezod updated the design or something...

I'll try that then...

Need more info! How long has the FIC been installed? 2 days or longer? Are these new codes or did they coincide with the FIC install or some other change?

If the codes originated with the FIC installation, you should probably try removing the resistors. If the car ran fine with the FIC and resistors until 2 days ago, you should check to see if the tiny 1/8W Boomslang resistors are blown. If some other change caused these codes to appear, what was it?

According to AEM, the crk/cam resistors are typically not needed on most Scions/Toyotas. I can't vouch for the accuracy of their recommendation but in my case (08 XB) the resistors caused the exact same misfire problems and codes that the resistor mod is intended to fix.

The car was running fine since the FIC was installed 2 months ago...these codes started to appear together 2 days ago...btw...omit the 02 sensor code...i'll have to check the resistors on harness....Is it best to just remove them period??

But what was weird when my car was on the dyno...it still sputtered on mid to high RPM ranges with the resistor mod intact yet with some tuning they removed it. Now these codes showed up yet the performance of my car has not been affected whatsoever(the CELs are just very annoying because it comes and then it clears itself after a few hours)

What about resetting the ECU? Could that be an option? It actually has not been done yet...

its not year dependant...so far iv had to install the resistors on an 06 and an 07 so i dont think it matters on year.

I might try them without and see where that gets ya.
