LOL Um first you need to buy one if you dont have one. But you take an ohm meter and put one lead on each end of the resistor and if it reads what your supposed to your good. But there is a percentage it can be within tolerance just depends on the color code for the resistor. its usually a gold or silver band for resistance. Gold is 5% and Silver is 10%. If the meter reads OL its bad!

what is the resistance of the resistor supposed to be? Isnt it 2k?

And 16G let me know what you read if you cant figure it out.

If I remember correctly the resistors I bought 2.2K and the metal threads on each end were silver...does that help? I'll pick one up today at the Shack!

ok so then if the resistor is less than 1,980ohms or 1.98kohms which is how the meter will prolly read it is bad. So if ts between 2,200-1,980 ohms (2.0kohms-1.98kohms) you should be good.

at least my TC is completely drivable....the CELs are just super annoying to look at...maybe i should use a piece of black tape...

I thought you said you had a Boomslang harness? Why would you buy resistors when the harness already has them? Did you verify that your harness doesn't already have resistors installed? You need to meaure the resistance from pin to pin and see what you have. I posted which pins to check in the resistor mod thread.

If you add 2.2K resistors in parallel to Boomslang's 2.2K resistors, you'll have a resistance of ~1.1K between the +/- crk/cam wires. This is too low and will reduce your signal voltages too much.

Yes I have a dezod boomslang
Actually I didn't verify with dezod...so in other words...the resistor mod is screwing with the signals...

Hey HighVoltage!

Where in South Florida do you live by??? I live in Homestead...is there anyway you can give me a hand with this thing next weekend? These CELs are annoying I just want them gone.

When I dynoed the car, I still got the sputtering at High RPM ranges thats why I ended having the resistor mod done.

So it runs perfectly now except for those codes? You really need to find out how many resistors you now have installed in your harness. You can buy a digital multi meter (DMM) at Radio shack for <$30.

Well...I spoke with Dezod yesterday and I was told that all the boomslangs manufactured about 1 year ago or so already have the resistors embedded into the harnesses so my radio shack 2.2k resistors are screwing up the signals. He told me to remove them from the harness completely and I should be in a good shape.

i dont see how u couldnt have seen the resistors .... dont you think its weird to have a random section of wiring, heat shrunk or elcetrical taped?

lol nontheless good job

Pardon my noobness
!
Didn't I mention I as a noob at this wiring stuff LOL!!!!

And Japtrix in Palm Beach (the shop that tuned my car) installed the extra resistors and apparently they didn't see the embedded resistors in the harness. That something they should have caught right away since Dezod always points customers to them for FIC tuning

Wow, Im not really sure on how dezod knows them. But generally speaking as i never had experience with them. But anytime you goto the track or look on forums people have nothing but horrible things to say about them. My friend has his eclipse there, they built the motor, tuned the car and blew it up. And then wanted to charge him for a new motor!

And then now i see your issue. From hearing what i have i wouldint let them change my oil.

Hopefully im wrong!

Actually I spent over 600 dollars on their dyno and I ended up the crappiest tune that pretty much put my car in limp mode!
Some how I need to get my money back from them!!!

Hey Elevation, remember when I sent you my map...I mean you saw how bad it was, right?

600 dollars..... for that tune...

man ptuning quoted me just around 500 for a full perfect tune

and well since u live in florida u should just hit up chris and have him tune the car
