its a ceramic batting thats used on commercial hood vents like whats used at a fast food joint. i talked to one of the hood installers about that batting they used and he said the stuff would withstand some extreme temps so i got some from him. so far its working pretty good.

i did notice a slight drop in intake air temps at first, if you havnt noticed the turbo is right under one of the charge pipes on a simple kit. after watching it more i found that it is a very small temp drop...like 1-2 degrees maybe but it does take the intake longer to heat up though. once the mani heats up fully it just ends up warming the intake air anyways.

some heat insulation would still be nice though at least, the turbo is close to your charge pipe and radiator, it might even help reduce heat from your ac

Go to a dent place, they should be able to take it out (as long as the paint isn't messed up)

The job site should be carrying liability insurance for just such an event. Go talk to the site super and file a report with the popo. If you cant find the site super go to the county permits office they will be happy to let you know who has a permit for construction at that location. They will probably wander on out there and write a few violation citations for dust control and flying debris.
