Before I got to this post I was thinking "build it yourself". I plan on building my block soon as well so the questions you're asking are already helping me haha.

small update... i got everything i have so far all sorted out, made sure i had all necessary parts to put this back together since the motor was torn down quite a few months ago. gettin ready to bring it in to measure the cylinder walls and send it to be machined. hopefully i can get by with just a hone and wont have to worry about having it bored.

Got a lil visit today at work from santa snap-on. Got some necessary tools. Only thing left is a torque wrench and the rest of the parts. Im gonna tear down the rest of the block this weekend and measure the cylinder walls to see what size pistons ill need.

good luck man. i ended up having to sleeve mine since it had already had a slight bore the last build. getting the darton sleeves installed is like double the price of a normal bore.

thanks man. yeah i dont think im gonna have to re-sleeve it. it was a stock motor, no mods, so i dont think itll be much of an issue. i was gonna order my pistons but i wanna make sure of the specs so i know what to order.

I do recommend going 89mm on the piston bore. The stock bore comes out of round easy just from mileage and to get her true again you usually have to bore her over. Just from experience Jon.

paul i gotta question for ya. just general knowledge when building the block, am i gonna have to file down the piston rings for proper clearance and fitment ? or do the wiseco's come ready to go? just from my general understanding, all rings need to be filed down.

Oem I use oem ran on 22 psi all day no prob.

If I'm not mistaking world racing made 1000 hp on oem head gasket and they use oem head gasket on time attack car.

i know this has always been a huge debate, well at least when i was in the honda world a few yrs back. u can never go wrong with oem gaskets imho.
