Default Maf sensor dirty or defective?

Hey guys. Ok all of a sudden just out of the blue Im getting a code thrown at me and its telling me that VAF, MAF sensor dirty or defective... What up with that? ..... ok so these things are at least $80 bucks or alot more... what could be the cause? I guess a new one has to be in the works cause everytime I get up around 3grand ( spool up time ) I stall... feedback anyone?

Take it out and very carefully wipe it off, don't push on it or anything like that, just let a paper towel or something wipe across it. Also you might have a big boost leak somewhere (not related to the code tho). I was in a boosted tC and the charge piping came off the intercooler and did the exact same thing that you said, stalled out during boost.

Yea, I took mine out and one side was completely covered in dirt and the other was spotless, so I just wiped it off and it fixed my wandering/low idle issue.

Mine did the same thing and you need to replace it. Take it out and take it to a tuner shop and have them test the voltage. They are not cheap like 150 or so I just did this last week.

WIPE IT OFF??? ARE YOU KIDDING ME. If half of you knew even how a MAF sensor worked you wouldn't give advice as to 'wiping it off"

there is a specical cleaner made by CRC. go to your local pepboys and get a can of maf sensor cleaner. it's basically expensive brake clean, even this is pushing it as the sensor is very sensitive and fragile...

this is a shot in the dark. IF your good with a DMM, you can diagnose (sp) a faulty maf sensor in about 5 mins. be glad we don't have a karmen vortex. there about 3x the price

I second that,I don't know about wiping it off with anything.Modern day sensors like this are incredibly intricate, and it's vital that you know what you are doing with them.

Been doing my own research..... and I know better than to WIPE IT OFF .... my ASE certified uncle taught me how to mess with cars..... and its just a P0102 code.... I dont think its defective its just outside its normal operating voltage...proly due to the 3'' intake and increased air flow Im guessing

what type of voltage are you seeing? and yes, a larger intake can "trick" the TCCS.

well I havent looked at the sensor really in depth tonight... I know the code isnt a serious one and I dont have an ohms meter or anything to test voltage... so im thinking this will wait till tomorrow
