Default Motor Damage Due to Overboosting (w/pics)

OK, so my buddy decided he was going to join the world of Forced Induction without properly researching it I told him he was dumb. He bought the Treadstone performance kit, and a boost controller that's it. WOW could he lack anymore common sense. The car has wait correction had 17k on the clock and then the other day he calls me and says hey man, im like whats up? he says you still working at Toyota right? I said yeah? He asked me how much would a motor run him, I said I'll be over. Hopped in my 93 Nissan D21 (Winter vehicle) and cruised over. There's his car in his garage and he has the hood off and a bunch of misc parts laying around. I asked what happened. He said well it was jerking and bucking like no other. I asked if he got engine management yet and he replied with a no....... soooo I knew what it was. He was running that kit with no management and detonation happened. I told him to save every penny and put this thing back to N/A and stay there below are some pics I took with my crappy Blackberry phone sorry of the teardown and motor damage due to detonation:

The Oil Pan

Cylinder Head

Crankshaft

Not too pretty

Why this is such a good car to ruin

A few pieces of the turbo kit are intact i.e. fuel injectors, manifold, forget the waste gate and turbo and then later I found out
he had the AEM F/IC but neglected to put it on and have it tuned and turn the boost controller up to 16psi I wanted to kill him.

I cant tell you how many times I have seen this. People just slap turbos on, and ignore the fact that there is a little more work that goes into it. Wish him well. Just curious, do you know what it is going to cost to replace the motor?

He could take the turbo off and tow it to the dealer and plead ignorance!

Sucks about the engine.

Just get a short block off an an old Camry.

The worst part about this story, is that he already had an F/IC. It just needed to get installed and tuned.

Research is the key people ^^

Hopefully this thread can prevent future peep from committing the same mistake.
