Honestly, before working here, these are the type of cars I worked on daily. The statement of being twice as much to repair or buy parts is a very common misconception.

I have built EVOs and STis, the price between them and the TC is about the same for most of the same stuff. Turbo kits, diffs, etc. The only difference is you have alot more in terms of choices of stuff for those cars. So sometimes it might seem more expensive. The STi can be pricey for parts depending on what you get.

In my experience no matter what platform you start with to get them to perform equally you are spending the same net number.

yeah, watching pinks and such, i realized that they all sound nearly the same. but when you think about it, nearly all of them are small block chevy's, since they are pretty cheap and can be bolted into anything, and then the exhaust systems are probably pretty interchangeable, like with the headers and intake manifolds and such.

but yeah, it bothers me that gmc sierras, cadillac escalades, and chevy corvettes all sound just about the same. nearly the same engines too.

I was speaking in terms of quality parts. I thought the Evo's parts/mods were substantially more expensive. Did some looking around and their not bad. I assumed it was the same as my 350z. Parts for the Z are twice as much as for a tC.

Most S/C bring it to 350-420whp on pump gas.

OMFG - if i ever saw someone that had this i would laugh so hard at them id prolly fall on the floor - this is just like paying $12,000 for the titanium exhaust on the gtr - some people really do have more money than brains.

I just did the math - even if they somehow managed to gain 15whp off that intake (which i highly doubt will happen) theyd be spending $111/per hp. I think thats the worst ratio Ive EVER seen lol.

And there are plenty of people who have it lol. It's because it's 'JDM bling.' Same thing goes for Takata's, Bride's, etc. You're paying a hefty premium for a name and nothing more. And the thing with the titanium exhausts, not sure with the GTR, but for the S2K, it's about a 55-60lb difference in weight and 8-14hp across the board. They usually run between $1,500-$2,000, but that's a pretty good improvement in performance. It's the only performance mod I'm considering, but then again, I would only buy one used as I'm not paying $2,000 for a tube.

And actually, there are much worse Power:$ things for the S2K. Anyone running cheap exhausts or cheap intakes literally just took money and threw it in the garbage. Gaining 5whp from a $1,700 intake is a lot better than losing 15WHP from a $300 intake. And yes, a lot of cheap parts for the S2K will drastically reduce the performance of the vehicle.

Actually, I just checked, and an ARC titanium dual catback exhaust for the S2K costs $4,500 lol.
