Are all the belt drives lined up straight? usually if one of them is off or crooked it will shred the belt.

That is what the service department at the dealership is checking on. I will have to wait and see what they say .

You may also want to make sure that you are using the proper belt size. A lot of aftermarket belt companies advertise one size, and actually make their belts pretty close but not exact. Having a belt that is slightly longer than it should be could possibly lead to the belt squeaking or shredding.

In my experience, GATES belts are most true to size.

Good luck!

Ok so the service department said that we are having to wait on a shim for the S/C pulley to bring the pulley out a lil more. They have also submitted a troubleshoot to Toyota to find out what they might know. Oh and thanks for the advice Mike however they have been putting on the toyota belt?

I had the same problem! Mine was due to the lip of the power steering pump pulley being bent. But it also could be that its not lined up too.

I had a problem with my belt shredding (slowly), then squeaking, and eventually popping off. The problem with mine was when one of the local shops installed the upgraded s/c pulley, they didn't make sure the belts were properly aligned, mainly the shim for the s/c pulley.

Luckily I have a friend that works at a Toyota dealership who had extra shims laying around. Changed the shim and haven't had any problems since.
