Default My Turbonetics tC dyno >>>>>

Ok, i finally had a chance to dyno my car. All the rest of the shops are damn busy for the upcoming car show here in Hawaii. Now heres my 1st, 2nd, and 3rd run. All had 20 minutes cooldown before each run. Pulls are all on 4th gear. Everything is stock, except for the custom 3'' downpipe-back exhaust with HKS HiPower (no cat, no resonator). This is done on a Dynojet.

^^1st run...WHP=218.6 /WTQ=224.1

^^2nd run...WHP=247/WTQ=235.7

3rd run...WHP=248.5/WTQ=232.4

^^Noticed something?? Yes. Does anyone know whats that drop all about around 4500ish RPM on all 3 runs and it just suddenly increased right before redline??? Do i need to tune my unichip?? The suppposed claim WHP is 244 and WTQ is 262...Im fine with the WHP, but maybe my 3'' full exhaust dropped the TQ that much, dont you think so?? Cuz it really does not feel like it used to be when it had stock pipe, pulls harder. Does anyone know of somebody with 2.5" full exhaust that did more WHP/WTQ??? Overall im happy with the results, and im not done yet with this, lol.

Lastly, let me know what you all think. opinions, comments, and questions??

Your numbers will get better with a tune.

I'm pretty sure that either Dezod or Kenny said that the car goes really rich after 4K. Well, that could be the reason though.

On pretty much all out of box Turbonetics tunes you will notice a drop in your AFR after 4500 which will usually net you a small drop in power. The answer is simple. The engine is MOST stressed as it nears redline under boost. To make sure there is ZERO chance of detonation as the engine approachs that dangerous spot on the power curve Turbonetics pulls a LOT of timing in that range. Thats what you are seeing with your drop in power. Now yes this can be tuned out but unless its drastically hurting the power delivery I would let it go. Nothing wrong with being safe.

I was running very rich so after hearing how much timing is being pulled and seeing how rich it was running I install a manual boost controller to up the boost to about 9.5. This leaned it out to a range of 10.5 to 11.5 afr. Boost comes on faster and there is a world of difference in peformance now. I've been runnning about 2000 miles like this now and the engine runs extremly smooth. Feels like maybe 270whp. I will get tuned soon but not sure I even need to. This kit is sweet.

Their claim is 244? Did you get a different setup than their banner ad that says 300? That's hot - did you happen to get an a/f chart too? I'm curious to see what it looks like. Congratulations!

The banner is referencing power at the crank not the wheels. The dynos for wheel hp have always said 244/262 or close to it. Of course environmental variables will affect this but you should be very close to that.

^I think they claim 300 at the crank which is still a bit high but much closer none the less

Aaah, got it. Yea, I know that dynos #s aren't the be-all end-all of the discussion because there are a lot of variables to consider. Regardless, charts look pretty good!

Looks good man. Keep up the good work, and I think you need to drop down to a 2.5 exhaust instead of the 3. You can get either a ZPI exhaust, Dezod as they run 2.5. I think Creative Compacts does 2.5 as well.

^^yeah, i would go back to 2.5, but dont want to spend another $500 or so again

my next move is getting the NST 3-set pulleys, FX400 clutch, and fidanza flywheel installed...break it in and dyno tune it again. hah!

Shuller…if you ever tune it, post the dyno chart also if possible with the mods you got, I wanna see the differences.

Streeter…no a/f chart, damn I didn’t even thought of asking that at the shop.

DTRUONG_112…I have no idea why yours is lower, maybe you just need to tune it…Or maybe my 3'' full exhaust actually made the differenceI really don’t know. Is everything stock on your car, just turbo?? I agree, our graph looks very similar, hmm.

I thought Tnetics advertisement 244whp was supposedly done on a stock exhaust
