if you have a wideband o2 sensor, why do you need an egt gauge? they essentially convey the same information, just in a different way.

i got o2, boost and oil pressure. why not do oil pressure, or fuel pressure or...voltmeter? lol

0-2000.

My tC with CAI, FUll 2.5" mandrel bent exhaust with high flow cat (I only have one), header, and etc all bolt ons will run around 1300-1400 cruising and when I get on it it gets up to 1600 sometimes 1630. I placed the sensor exactly where they said to put it, and its mounted in the runner comming directly off the cylinder head about a 1" away from the head. The further away you mount it the less the temp will be. This is with the OEM ECU doing everything.

ignition timing will affect EGT too, even a good afr reading with improperly tuned ignition map will make EGT high.. afr and egt gauge i say is a good combination

Ace is correct. EGT's are not just AF dependent. I usuelly don't ever see over 820 segrees C and anything over 850 is dangerous. The 0-1600 is more than enough for all Scion guys.

I agree with except you need the 0-2000. Newer cars are running higher EGT's for emissions purposes. My car only has exhaust and intake and the EGT's were running up to 1600 highway sometimes hits 1640 with the OEM computer.

so new tc have high egts? I always thought 1600 is high.. you would want you egt lower than 1600 though once you are boosted since your car would be more knock limited and hotter egts can increase chance of knocks

From what I have seen turbo tC's run lower EGT's than stock.

actually sir im running higher egts than stock... I am tuned right based on my wideband. but somehow I cracked my mani due to high egts and had to buy a new one... I guess its good to monitor your egts.. streeters ttc has a pyrometer but he gets fals reading sometimes bc of where it is mounted...your right though wideband should be enough... I guess ive had to many problems not to be as safe as possible

That's why you need a pyrometer and wideband.
