Default Oil Catch Can

Hi,

I just purchased a greddy oil catch can which I was just about to install, when i realized that the valve cover has two breather hoses (one to intanke manifold one to intake). I read around a little while about it and it seems like most people are just running the catch to the one through the intake?

So my question is, should i modify the can to add two more ports to vent both, instead of just one? Should i buy a new one with two? or should i just install it to the intake house?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks!

You attach the hoses from the exhaust outlet from the valve cover (the one that currently has the hose to the intake) to your catch can and then from your catch can to your intake( not the manifold). You can run 2 catch cans if you want, one for the intake valve exhaust too, which most peoply dont see necessary since blow by really doesnt occur there. Im running a single for the exhaust.

So the blow-by doens't occur in the breather tube going to the intake manifold? I read the dc 3 install

http://blog.scionxtc.com/blogs/archi...catch-can.aspx

and it looked like the tube to the intake manifold had some slidge in it (as he indicated in his write up).

I was thinking about hunting down two more fittings and modifing the catch cna to work for both hoses.

Has anyone done anything like this, or is it really not necessary?

Thanks!

ive rarely haerd of anyone doing it with the catch can... everyone just does the 1 hose to where it would usually go to the intake.

thanks.

I'm using the Saikou Michi DC3 dual catch can ... when I drain mine I get almost the same amount of oil from both cans, meaning there is about the same amount of blow-by in both vents.

Yea i have both ports filtered with 2 different catch cans, and i notice blow by on both of them. I dont think one cam blows by more than the other. For me its about the same.

And let me tell you..... I have the greddy catch can.... and the hose that came with it suck. You should look into buying some proper sized vacuum hose. What they supply bends and crimps which restricts airflow, which gives bad AFRs during idle. Go here:
www.BoostController.com

I got 8ft of 10mm , and 6ft of 13mm vacuum hose. That was enough to do the trick. And they have about 4-5 different colors to choose from .

Just to show that you should vent both ports, here is a thread from ScionDad from several years ago. Just so you know he already had the front drivers side port vented and these are just the results from the rear one on the intake manifold being vented.

I wish they would have further discussed the topic. Maybe someone could do more testing if they were willing enough.
