Default oil pan in relation with timing belt?

Ok my car is back to stock now. I did have a turbo kit on it, but I removed it and put it back to stock. The only thing I had done was the oil pan. i went to performance shop for them to swap out my oil pan.

Long story short, I drove it, it started making a noise and the timing belt was bad. I had the mechanic stop by the gas station. He said it just went out( a part of the timing belt was torn,),

So he cut off the part off that was torn so would stop making that noise and said to change it asap, and i was able to drive it home

My questions are how did it coincidently go out when he swapped out the oil pan????? When you take out the oil pan or are around that area is it possible to accidently cut off some of the timing belt when you are working on the oil pan???

fyi, i have 42k miles on the car, was turboed for about 2 years, and i have 06 tc. They also said they test drove it and everyting was fine. The noise did not occur right when i drove the car, but after like half a mile or so, the noise started.

the only belt we have is the serpentine belt that drives our accessories, like alternator, water pump and so on. if he cut that, don't drive your car until you replace it.

can you describe the noise it was making? was it at idle, while cruising, accelerating, does it speed up or slow down with the RPMS etc.

do you have the belt still? take a look at it. i think the rule of thumb is that if it has 6 cracks per inch, it is time to replace it.

but your oil pan is completely under the engine, relative to everything. it is under the car.

yes, it defintely needs to be replaced. I still am wondering why it needs to be replaced so early only at 40k? can stress on the engine from the turbo kit and flooring it hear and there be a factor at all??
