Default Passing NYS inspection with Turbo?

Hey everyone, i tried the search but im looking for a more specific answer. In NEW YORK, will a turbo pass inspection. Basically what im asking is will it set off any check engine lights. Otherwise i know someone who will look away but needs the scanner to check the engine codes to pass. Will the o2 sensor after the cat be reading a normal o2 amount after running a turbo with a catless header / recirculated dump?

Thanks.

99% you are going to have an oxygen sensor code which means you will not pass. I got inspected the week before I put the turbo on last year. But if you car is an 07 and up for the year 2008 they do not have to plug your car into the scanner.. so just clear the codes and your fine. For next year we'll see.

I'm not in NY...I'm in Nevada, and here the plug the OBDII scanner in, never pop the hood.

My TurboToyotas kit with AEM F/IC throws no CEL, so I passed my SMOG 2 weekends ago with no issues.

I just got my midpipe redone, 2.5 inch, so absolultey NO CATS and NO RESONATOR and still NO CEL!

See, the TurboToyotas comes with DP and S-Pipe, and the bung on the S-Pipe is pulled out a little, acting like an anti-fouler, sorta...and the F/IC has an "O2 Spoofer" that (when tuned properly) sends the voltage teh stock ECU is looking for to make it THINK it is getting proper AFRs all the time.

I live in NYS, and can tell you it is possible to pass emissions with our catted downpipe, a proper tune and no CELs.

I'm confused, why all this talk about smog? I was under the impression that it only needed to be passed if the car was taking new ownership or was being reinstated for insurance reasons.. i.e. buying back a totaled car?

did anyone say anything about smog?

My impression is that you will pass as long as you arn't throwing any codes.

I have had a few do this, but most throw the code.

I too am in NYS, and from my impressions you have to either "know" somebody ... or "know" somebody that "knows" somebody. I have done quite a bit of research and to me it is not worth all the hassle involved with making sure that it is may, possible, hopefully pass.

I am going stock S/C until the warranty is null, and then upgraded pullies, possibly kik's S/C upgrades and meth.

I can't garountee that the F/IC will throw no codes with teh dezod kit...I guess we will find out soon since all dezod kits ship with the f/iC now...but my TurboToyotas kit with F/IC throws no codes, which means I pass inspection.

whatever inspection you are talking about, as long as they don't do a visual, you shoudl pass if you have no CEL.

OH, and boostedbox...after the first year, at least in Vegas, you need to do a smog check EVERY YEAR to renew registration.

Yea the only thing im worried about is the CEL. Well find out in about a month or so if it throws one or not, if it does thats going to bug me so much. I cant stand having any lights on in my dash.

What kit and managment did you get?
If anything, it usually throws a cat ineficiancy code (P0420) and an antifouler or 2 should fix that.

I passed. Dezod S1 2.5 Tback no cats , antifouler spacer emanage ult.

Reset your codes using your standard run of the mill obd2 scanner. Drive real easy, trying to get your afr to stay in the 14's. Maybe 15 -25 miles. Make sure the car is parked real close to your inspection station & let it full cool down (could take hours) and then gingerly drive it to them and keep your fingers crossed.

You need 6 monitors to be ready to pass the inspection. Pending codes are allowed. I had a P0172 (too rich code pending). When codes mature they throw a CEL.
