Noob question but, I was under the impression that the 2AZ-FE could only handle 300 WHP tops while maintaining reliablility. So when you guys say built short block, what all does that include replacing? I have been looking at the Brian crower upgrade kit on dezod's website, but honestly, I'm not too familiar with the upgrading of internals...

built block usually means.. rods, pistons at the least... bearings are a for sure must and some good head studs atleast.

When u see a motor fail on a returnless tc... Its always Number 1 cylinder.

i can vouch for that cause that is what happend to me. so i got a return system.

No offense taken

Some people would rather make their own things than buy a "kit" of some sort. I am one of those people.

Some people dont have time to do anything besides buy a kit.

The horsepower to reliability number is a gamble. The car wasn't designed to make 300 hp, it was designed to make 160....Therefor ANY boost that you run is going to shorten engine life to some degree. On 9ish pounds at 313whp, my stock engine lasted for about 2 years. And my new "built" short block consists of a polished stock crank with the balance shaft gear removed, ACL bearings, K1 rods stock stroke, CP Pistons 9.0:1 90mm bore, Darton sleeves, and ARP headstuds and fastners.

And no offense to you. I'm not going to be like every other kid with mommy and daddy's money and buy something that someone else produced, when that someone else is a person just like me that did nothing more then put in the research.

Haven't updated this in a while, so I figured I would. Turbo came in, and so did the RC 750's. Turbo specs are as follows (ripped from the website I bought it from):

*COMPRESSOR SPECS:T04S
*flow: 61 lbs/min 781cfm
*.70 A/R housing
*60-1 TRIM wheel
*TURBINE SPECS:T3
*.48 A/R housing
*76 TRIM stage 3 wheel
*360 degree thrust bearing
*Supports up to 525whp

If anyone wants to make a guess as to what boost level they think I'll be making 400whp, be my guest. I have no idea yet.

I already have it mounted on the manifold, and have the downpipe and wastegate installed so it's one less thing I have to worry about when it finally comes time to reassemble the engine bay.

yea usually u want top end power .....wher eu can use it without spinning much, with a .48 turbine ull have still have you 400 whp dont worry, but itll be at like 3-4k and then ull have ~ 200 hp at redline. dont panic.... you can but a new turbine houses it self...

they arent too expensive maybe like 300 new?

My guess is the same as Bret 20psi nothing less that housing is way to small for your power goals unless your gonna autocross and need all that low end power. And as far as buying a bigger housing it shouldn't cost you more then 200 bucks. I know i paid 120 but that was a hook up and a shop down here but regular price down here is 175 I think.

I skipped right over the .48 A/R. +1 man, way to small. Going to be Peaky as hell and then fall on it's face up top.
