Prior to my tune I would throw a P0420 which is a cat inefficiency code due to the primary cat being removed. I put on a defouler and it went away so I was CEL free.

I had the car tuned and after I threw a P0138 which is the secondary O2 voltage too high. This was due to the defouler on the secondary O2.

Once I removed the defouler I no longer have any CEL's so it is entirely possible to run without defoulers and CEL's given the tune is correct as well as your choice of management.

If you have a crap tune and (on the F/IC) if you O2 map isn't tuned you will receive primary O2 CEL's and you would be replacing the most expensive O2 sensor on the car prematurely. If your MAF map isn't clamped you will throw P0101 codes left and right causing you to prematurely clean and replace your MAF.

What i'm trying to say is get a good tune....*COUGH* PTUNING....the best $500 you'll ever spend and you'll never throw a tune related CEL.

In fact I feel like my car is factory boosted that i've now removed my Scan Gauge

What I am saying is that there should be NO other reason why your car should be throwing a CEL as a direct result of a turbo kit install. Don't matter if you have an E-Ultimate, FIC, Blue or whatever (with the exception of a Standalone), you should not throw a CEL if your car is setup the way it should. Only additional modification to the car needed is an Anti-fouler. Some cases it's not needed and some cases it is. For the most part, that is the only CEL that requires something other than what's in your turbo kit to get rid of.

You'll def need one for a header or you'll get the P0420....once you go turbo you can ditch it.

I've noticed many turbo kits provide a tune that is less than perfect and throw codes. Not to mention any names but it is very common from what I've seen. But, in theory, you are correct, if installed and tuned correctly, there shouldn't be any CEL's.

I didn't even bother getting a header now that Bobby talk'd me into going turbo with him, would be a waste of money... So instead I put the money in my turbo account haha.

I understand what you're saying, i'm stating based on MY experiences which are less than yours, understandably, but I did not need one, in fact the defouler actually caused the CEL. I simply stated the defouler should not be a necessity and i'm not the only one that runs CEL free without one.

I don't see having any problems with the Ptuning kit with the CEL.

I think that's Awesome though! CEL and Antifouler free...but you did go to PTuning...

I think I'll make a post when I go up there on "pleasure" next time so we can gather all the Turbo tC's up and have a "Welcome back to boost" gathering for me....lol.

PS....to say PTuning won the Polling by a landslide is an understatement.

The kit itself has very little to do with CEL's. It's the tune and the install of the kit (vac and exhaust leaks) that can lead to the CEL's.

That's precisely the point I was trying to make, good tune, good company....Boosted Brothas all go to PTUNING

I would drive the 11 hours again for the "Welcome Back" gathering!

PTUNING did win in landslide form....it would have been slightly closer had the OP required "proof of purchase" before voting haha
