im a newbie to the whole FI thing. I know how they work, how its different from turbo and everything. but one thing that i want to know is the tuning and ecu.
i have a '07 Auto (i kno right? lol auto-tragic/car was my sister's) and i know you have to buy the auto fit kit wen buying the trd sc. is the fit kit just a second ecu reflash? i cant figure out if there are any extra components needed to bolt on the sc.
i was wondering, instead of getting the scan tool and reflashing the ecu, can i just buy, say an e-manage or an AEM ecu? and just run my car off of that? i am willing to put up the money to buy a new ecu and i guess it wouldnt be so limiting on the tune. plus i want to tune the supercharge along with new header, exhaust, and SR intake. i am also guessing that the scan tool to reflash the ecu only reflashes with a map that thinks you have the stock headers and everything.
did i make any sense? lol
thx in advance

Sure - if I were you I would get the emanage ultimate or unichip ...depends what your tuner would rather use. Then put on an intake and exhaust before the tune so you dont have to get retuned. Sounds good -- Its always good to do things in groups so your gains are nice
The stock ECU reflash map runs the car superduper rich. I would say since your in CALI, keep off the headers and get the 9 pound pulley put on it. As it sits for what ever reason the 07's dyno very highly compared to the 05-06's. With the stock map you can run the 9 pound pulley with no problem and it should net you around 220whp with no other modifications. Im going this week to get mine tuned with the Unichip, Umnitza CF intake and Sp2 exhaust to see what I come up with. Im hoping for the range of 250WHP which I think should be very very possible.
it'd be alot easier for your tuner to tune off the TRD basemap. Otherwise he'd have to use your stock map, and may take forever just getting everything right. the TRD map isnt great but it's better then nothing. all your tuner would have to do is tweak is a bit instead of starting from scratch from your stock map.
it wont be necessary to reflash if you decide to put the 9.5lb pulley on. if you add an intake and pulley, then you'll be running lean.
