S/C Gates Belt..

S/C Gates Belt..
So I just updated the bearings on the pulley side and decided to get the Gates belt (I been using the stock one with the 9.5 pulley)
when I put the Gates belt on it was so hard I had to use some flat head screwdriver.
Till I got it on my question is. Is that normal for it to be that tight. I didn't have that prob with the stock one. Will it cause damage to the S/C or anything?
Thanks.

You should be using either one of these belts.
K070890 - Gates Belt for Use With 65mm SC Pulley
05-06 Scion tC TRD SC
K070905 - Gates Belt for Use With 65mm SC Pulley
07-10 Scion tC TRD SC
I am confused when you say stock belt, the stock S/C belt should not work with the smaller diameter pulley.
Yes there should be some tightness to the belt when installing it but don't use tools, it could damage the belt. It may require a second set of hands to help loosen the tensioner while the belt is looped over the last pulley.
TIP: when buying the belt, use the part number at your local parts store don't mention the car its for because they will try to use logic and tell you it won't work if you mention your car. The belt size for the 05-06 is actually the belt for a Jeep Wrangler, if I remember right.

Yeah that's the belt I bought thanks I just didn't know if it was supposed to be that hard to put on. Lol. The belt I had with the 9.5 said Toyota on it so I was just guessing it was stock. Lol.

Once I get home I can check the box for the 12PSI pulley belt, if it still in my garage.
If not... when you order the 12PSI pulley NST will be very stern with you on the phone about the use of the pulley, emanage, cooling, etc... they don't want to let you upgrade a car that isn't ready for it...
