Default S/C Rattle at idle. What is that sound

TRD says that its normal. But it sounds so wrong.

What annoys me the most about it is that I dont know what makes the sound and why.

Anyone got a clue?

post a sound clip, or go to youtube and see if YOURS sounds like the blown s/c units. What year is your car+s/c? Most issues are with the 05-06 units, as I have not ran into a 2007+ (or revised s/c) that has had any issues.

does it sound like a whirring or does it sound like SCRAPING METAL like fan hitting metal on metal contact?

It sounds like a metal rattle.

I have an 05 auto
Its a brand new SC (less then 1K). Did it the moment it was installed.

It only does it at a very specific RPMs. Somewhere around 800.

When the car is cold and it is running faster its fine.

Then for a brief period of time when it drops the RPMs it does it.

Then when it drops even more it goes away.

I can hear it when I put the car in gear and backup with out pressing gas.

I can hear it when from a stop i accelerate i hear it for a split of a second when RPMs go up.

Its absolutely fine at any other RPM range.

Sometime (rarely) after taking the car past 5.5k RPM on a highway and driving for longer period of time it goes away completely.

TRD says that "You might hear a rattle noise at idle that will go away at 800 - 900 RPMs above idle. This is normal"

My sound exactly matches that description.

Is there anything wrong with my S/C?

What is that sound?

yeah we need to hear it exactly because there are a few different rattles it could be...there is a slight rattle at low rpm's and idle...not very loud though, there's also a loud banging metal to metal rattle that is bad bearings that need to be replaced...then i've even heard an intake rattle before that someone thought was bad bearings...gotta hear it to know
