Default S/C Related Part Wearout

In the 2,700 miles after I had the S/C installed I have worn out 1 battery (warn light), turned one change of motor oil black and fouled the cat to the point of CEL + need for replacement.

Is there anything else I can expect wear out and need replacing? I have a little over 3k left on the 36k basic warranty and now I'm wondering if I should have bought the extended warranty.

I've had my s/c for about 10K and I have not experience any of those problems, how ever I think I have 1 or more bad idler pulleys.

More info what mods do you have on your car? The supercharger should in no way effect how you battery is charged or how long it last. Who installed it? How often do you change your oil?

I don't have any other engine mods at the moment. Everything is factory stock or trd. I do drive 90% city with most trips being <7mi. Maybe that's not giving the battery enough time to charge? Thats the best explaination I can think of besides heat.

I'm currently doing 5k oil changes and this has been the first change since the install. I'm considering maybe a more aggressive changes cycle at 3k or going synthetic and keeping the 5k cycle.

FI I would change oil at 3K as far as your battery what year was the car? Some newer batteries aren't lasting, meaning you can take two of the same type batteries off of the self and one might last 1 year and the other last 5 years or 1month. Newer batties are hit and miss.

1) Your battery has been subject to extreme sulphation. Get a battery desulphator to prolong battery life. Probably due to the fact you don't drive the car long enough for it to be recharged by the alternator or alot of stop n go traffic for you.

2) Keep up with your recommended s/c oil change interval. Or the s/c drive pulley is slipping, this affects the impeller spin and chances are your pushing more fuel and less air is being crammed into the chambers, hence the richness and fouled cat.

3) G2 is right, check your idler pulleys as they are typically the 1st to go since they bear the stress of the tight belting system. They sound screechy when rough. Look for kikcaffeine, he sells quality bearing replacements for them pulleys

Hope this helps.

I have an '06 tC and they replaced the battery with a Toyota True Start. I don't know if this is one of the "newer" batteries but its definately one of a different manufacturer the original was a Toyota branded Panasonic.
