Has anyone been able to modify the A/T so it can use a limited slip diff? You are going to need something extra to put that power to the ground...

no, you have a torque convertor, planetary gears, and a stall convertor. no clutches. you have ECT or something like that. electronically controlled transmission. only high-end autos like bmw's and benz's and porsches and audis have automatic trannys with an automated clutch. i think they are hydralyically controlled.
thats what i meant. lol.

I HAD a auto boosted tC, but the tranny died and I converted to a manual cause im a cool guy.

Naw, if you get the right kit and get a proper tune and ur nice to ur tranny you'll be fine. Dont try to go crazy on the stock tranny and ull be ok. I recommend the Dezod kit. Got any questions just hit me up.

Yeah but Consistency is good when you're bracket racing.

I got good consistent times when I was racing.

Oh yeah - at the ScionVIP event last weekend, we had 1/8th mile drag racing. I took 1st place for the tC's - beating out several MANUAL turboed tCs.

Yeah, but you can give a manual a lot more horsepower quicker and cheaper than with an auto. I'm not sure what the stock auto tranny can handle, but I'm pretty sure it's not over 300 ft-lbs of torque. It just wasn't designed for it. Neither was the manual tranny, but with a $400 clutch, it can hold it pretty well.

It's not a bad idea...turbocharging any car can't be a bad idea. It's just more expensive for less whp.

But I will give you consistency. My step father used to say "You can't outshift an auto," and all things being relatively equal, autos will win. The problem is getting them equal. And this is where MTX cars shine: low price for high performance.

You wanna compare Auto to Manual....

I did 0 mod's since the swap

Auto went 14.1@103
5spd went 12.7@111

0 Mod's, Same Tires, Same tune

very well said!

i believe its really up to your own preference. if you choose to drive an auto and wanna be faster than other autos then FI your car. its a much better feeling to drive a turboed manual thou.

Well put. The reason I purchased an auto over a manual had nothing to do with driving skill or anything like that. As a matter of fact, my previous 2 cars were manuals, one being a sick Toyota Tundra with a 3 inch life I had no intentions of modding my tC when I bought it, hence the reason an Auto was purchased. Los Angeles traffic is no joke. But now that i'm boosting, I am going to build the Auto and really have a fast car :D
