Dude did your tech not tell you the rest? Mine said make sure you do not wear sunglasses when looking at the sc because the ultraviolet light in the air could bounce off your glasses and hit the shaft, causing the entire engine to blow into pieces! And that is only part of the whole story, I was told a brand new owners manual for the sc is coming out soon with chapters dedicated to what should and should not be done near this car.

it's just annoying-at this point, no one really knows what's causing the seals to crap out, and those who know how to replace the seals aren't even talking about it. it's like a big secret or something. what's the point of coming onto a forum like scionlife, telling people that the seals which so many people are having problems with can be replaced, but then not tell anyone where to get em? it's nice that someone knows about it, but just doesn't want anyone else to know-since there could be a huge run on the things, and then they'll be gone for all eternity. WTF

agree, if someone would be so kind of knowing the remedy to this problem, please post it, it would be greatly appreciated.

maybe if someone were to disassemble an SC setup and take measurements of the seals, they could be re-engineered...

yeah that would be nice...but it probably wont happen. The people who have replaced them are the ones that need to post here and talk.

That would be great if you did that. you would really be helping out the group. you should definately post a DIY and take plenty of pictures. I pray that someone would do this. It would help out the S/C community so much.

I think with a S/C we can put down better hp#'s and trq#'s then a turbo at the same boost. that is why i went with a S/C and i like torque.

I wish ZPI would have done something like this or any major shop that is involved with the scion community. If they did they woudl have very devoted S/C owners repeatedly going to them.

IDK about the TQ being higher then a turbo car.. Turbo's make more tq then HP on our car it seems. The TRD makes more HP then TQ..

Ripp mods said that if anybody has a blown seal that if they send it to them ....they can see exactly what is broken (for future issues). They might be able to see what can be done but need to see the piece first.

well that is great that ripp would do this. would they do it for free? all we have to do is send them the S/C? well whoever is the next victim i am sure we will here about it and it would most likely be posted. i am sure we would all be willing to donate some funds for the cause atleast to cover shipping.

can that be agreed upon?

i'll help out the shipping cost as well if someone can get one to rippmods. we need to have someone make or tell us where they got seals for this thing. it's going to be ridiculous if people on slife wouldn't want to help each other out. we all love cars, we all lover our cars, and if there's anything that anyone can do to help each other out, why not do so?

yea ^^ someone that has a blown one that has no need for it .... might be able to have them get the seals made and that person can turn around and resell the charger..its worth the $20shipping if you can make a few grand off the blown seal'd charger.
