I'd prefer that be 'all of it'

That way I can laugh about it over a beer tonight.

20psi, but we still are running considerably less boost through the S/C than it is capable of...so the problem lies elsewhere, not in the pulley's we are running.

I have a MMW header on the way, but I'm not installing it untill I get it wrapped. My last car had its header wrapped, it kept the engine compartment a lot cooler...the header was even kool enough to touch with the wrap on it.

Well I'll know if the allen bolts are the deal in about an hour and 20 minutes. I leave the office at 4, I've got a set of metric allen wrenches with me so I'll give the bastards a good twisty twisty and drive a couple of miles and check.

I went and tightened the allen head that was used as a mounting point, and the the bolt actually moved a bit, drove about 4 miles and checked, a very tiny dribble was there. I tightened the one on the top and the one up front some more...well, as much as I could without leverage and only a tiny allen wrench.

When I got home after some hard highway driving, the little seep that was there before was unchanged. No additional oil came out on the second trip. At least none that I could tell, it was too hot to touch to wipe it away after the first trip.

Once I get laundry and dishes taken care of, I'm gonna go take it for a spin again.

Oh yea, funny sidenote...the weld on the bracket for my heat shield >broke off< and I hadn't noticed it until I got down into that little nook. I'll be having a chat with him if I catch him, and I'll bug him about getting a shield made for others since there has been some expressed interest.

I'd like to get on this one, even though the topic has been opened for a while. I have warped the seal on my 1st s/c which had 5k miles (all hyw) on it before it happened. I have only been running an NST 9.5psi pulley. Just got the new s/c installed a week ago so we'll see how it goes. As for the headers, I'm not a believer any more with the heat being the main cause of the problem. I've been running the stock header and shield the entire time. The new s/c doesn't rattle nearly as loud at idle. If it happens again, I'll go turbo and sell the new kit to someone. Like I said before, since heat isn't a concern to me, I'll probably go through with the header install. Going to coat and rap it up just to the heck of it. I'd go turbo now but my buddy with his turbonetics is getting a lot of CEL's with his kit. At least mine always ran clean.

so you had the 9.5psi pulley on the whole time for 5k miles and it finally failed? Makes me just wonder what the quality is like and if it has anything at all to do w/ the aftermarket products and just with trd and a shotty product (that i own ..hehe).

That's right. The car had 15k miles at install and 20k when i noticed it leeking. TRD needs to get this straight! I was worried if my engine would handle the boost but now I'm just worried if the thing that is making the boost will hold up.

no more leak. I drove the ____ out of the car and nothing. no dribble, no drip, nothing.

I drove it about 3/4 of a mile to the local grocery store, taking first gear to redline.

Checked and nothing.

I drove it about 5 and a half miles along a highway and freeway (45mph and 60mph limit respectively) taking 1-3 to redline (when the highway turns into the freeway I downshift into third and gun it.

checked in the parking lot of a safeway and nothing.

Drove it another 5 and half miles back, and half-way launched at every stoplight (highway, so 45mph limit) and then dented the floor on the stoplight to the freeway onramp. I got home, engine bay was nice and toasty and....

no oil :D

I'll be checking every time I stop the car every day this week for any changes, but for now I'm having myself a beer.

Taking the advice of a wise man, I pulled off the tab that was used for the heat shield, and re-bolted the allen had back on. Drove around the block bout 6 times or so and didn't see any thing.

so are you thinking it might have been caused by the shield?

No, not really anyway. I took the tab off and re-torqued the bolts down and made sure all were to spec and went on a quick drive, checked and nothing. I then went on a longer drive, some highway and a smidge freeway, and there was a little.

Tt occured to me that on all short drives, nothing showed up. but after longer, intense drives there was a leetle bit.

so I wrapped the whole god damned shaft in a few layers of heat wrap. Since my little stainless steel plate isn't doing the job and since I can't adequately wrap the header, I wrapped the majority of the left side of whole freaking blower and all along the shaft.

I'm not giving up without a fight damn it. If this doesn't work, I'll bring it in to the dealership and see just how screwed I am.

Also, I've decided on an STi if I end up getting rid of this car =P

at least this morning, for my particular leak. I don't know where the other folks' leaks' were coming from. Mine was through the little gap under the horsehoe bracket with the 3x allen heads.

under there. just a dreeble.

I wrapped about 3/4 of the supercharger itself, and all along the shaft until just over the alternator...since there were things in the way that prevented a good wrapping. I put 2 layers over where the leak was.

When I get home, I'll put up a pic of how it looks.

My drive from home to work yesterday made it leak. My drive from home to work today made nothing. I had to use a q-tip to check because of all the wrapping. Only thing that came back was dust from the wrap.
