Serious help code p2196 and p0304
Here is my situation I am throwing two codes STILL after replacing spark plugs switching around the coil packs in all cyl and replacing the upstream o2 sensor. Now my problem is after I switched all these my check engine light went away and literally four hours later it came back and I'm still throwing the same two codes. I am looking for help. Does anyone have any ideas what could be my problem? My rpm is about 600-700 starting up. The p2196 code is for stuck rich o2 sensor (which I've replaced) and the p0304 code is cyl 4 misfire. Any suggestions. I need help bad and I don't have much money until I get payed next month

P0304 possible fixes probable to least probable
A) weak missing spark
B) plugged fuel injector
C) engine mechanical fault
D) large vacuum leak specific to cyl 4
P2196 possibilities probable I least probable
A) open is short circuit condition
B) poor electrical connection
C) failed air flow sensor
D) rich a/f ratio fuel pressure, vacuum leak, maf sensor fault

Like I mentioned before I am just looking to figure this out bc these codes have been coming on and off for the last two weeks and I'm needing some serious help figuring this out. Anything helps!

X2 on MAF cleaner, even if it doesn't correct your issue it would not hurt.
What mods do you have?
swap injector 1 and 4 just to try to see if that code moves to another cylinder.

Ive had to replace my MAF twice since Ive owned my car. I dont remember which code was shown but it idled like ___ and eventually just stalled unless I pressed the gas pedal. I'd start there.
Go to Advance or Auto Zone and get some plugs, a MAF, and some injector o-rings and give a shot to changing them if swapping the injector, gets you nowhere. GL

Swapped in a friends injectors ( all 4) from an 08 tc and light came back on this morning.... I've cleaned the maf and everything. Had a mechanic check compression and valves. He said all was great. That's when I swapped injectors in but still have a code. Ill run to the store to see what codes I'm throwing but if its still the stuck rich code and the cyl 4 misfire what's next to fix???

does the 08 have different injectors not saying it does but why didnt you just swap injector 1 and 4? If it is the same codes then I would check for vacuum leaks by spraying carb cleaner at every single vacuum connection and see if idle changes while running and if it does fix that, if not, then check your fuel pressure regulator and even replace it just to be sure it isnt that.

I'd guess that whatever is causing your Cyl 4 misfire is also causing your o2 stuck rich condition. All that fuel is going in, but not igniting causing a rich condition and the o2 is picking it up. Could be a leak specific to cyl 4, injector, spark plug, coil, or just bad cylinder.

Well rechecked all injectors for leaks found a small leak bc the injector in cyl 4 wasn't seated right still... Reseated it and tightened everything down properly made sure the washers were on etc cleaned maf again then put some marble mystery oil and fuel cleaner in just in case I had carbon build up or a stuck valve and drove the tc hard for about 20 min to ensure everything seated right and no leaks and so far so good. Almost 75 miles later no check light and engine purrs like normal no misfire. Thank god! Thanks guys for the help, you are all a blessing!

Check light came on again after two days of it being off. Same two codes popped up 0304 and 2196. Is there anyway I can test my fuel pump regulator w/o buying one? Or does it just need to be replaced when I replace injectors? This is ithe first real problem I've had with my car I just don't want to be spending 1000$ and it still not get fixed. Might as well buy a new car lol

Re-check the injector. Mine had come loose after I reseated it once before. Have you checked the EFI Relay? Could be the source. Other than that, you'd be better off taking it to a shop to diagnose if all the easy/obvious sources are ruled out.

The injectors are all snug and there don't seem to be any leaks. Where is the efi relay? And I'm goi to take it to Toyota I just don't want to get charged an arm and leg lol

Fuse box under the hood. In the cover (that comes off) is a map of all the fuses and relays. Look for which one is the EFI. Not sure if you can check if it's working properly. May just need to try a new one. If you know someone with a stock or working tc, just switch with theirs to see if it changes anything. Just remember which one is which at the end.

yea efi just clears the ECM? code will come back eventually.
Considering other options I came across A possible Vac leak issue. Especially around my Intake manifold area, throttle body, and any other intake areas?
*travis I know you mentioned soapy water just looking at my options
has anyone used Gumout??? what is the best way to check for Vac leaks? I'd rather use soapy water bc it's not flammable, but if gumout will be better then I'll use it.
also I am going by toyota on saturday to get a scan done to see what is really my issue if nothing comes up on the vac leaks
