I think its pretty much the same technology but I was looking into the borg warner ones. I raced (and beat) and k20 civic si with one of those things. I could be wrong, but I think it was a 7076 vgt from borg warner and he was spoolin that thing about the sametime I was spooling my 60-1 which was pretty impressive. Something about the technology that closes off certain vains under low boost for quicker spool that opens up accordingly.

 

The holset is a butt ton cheaper and spools quickly as well. It is the same sorta tech and it isn't as much about the vgt as it is the design of the turbo. There are a couple of Houston guys that have the HX35 with the 12 blade HX40 compressor wheel and housing that can spool quicker than a GT35R and have a better map.. All for a turbo that costs less than 400 bucks. Problem is finding one that isn't straight T4 (and they are MASSIVE)
