Default Starting issues on rebuilt motor....

Okay so for the past couple of days the motor has been back in the car and ready to go. I try and start it and the battery is dead so I let it charge over night. Next day go to start and its just cranking and cranking and cranking. There is fuel getting to the motor. I think this may be the problem. For some reason i am not getting ignition spark from the coils and even the coils with the spark plug. I have the standalone aem ems and that seems to be working properly as well. So I switched back to the stock ecu to see if i was getting any kind of ignition and sure enough it cranked a few times and there was backfire. so i switched it back to the aem and same problem was happening. Also the map on the aem still sems to be there as far as i can tell.

ur timing might be off, this is the same issue marcelo had he had to reopen the motor and align the crank again even though it seemed to be aligned the first time, this is just an idea

it crank and starts with the stock ecu? if so its the map on the AEM standalone. if both are doing the samething well then it has something to do with timing.

hmm maybe it is the map then im not sure. The looking at the aem while trying to start the car is like trying to read chinese lol. i will check the timing tonigh and see if soemthing is wrong.

also it does not crank all the way with stock ecu. It just all of a sudden enables my ignition spark and i was cranking and it backfired and then i stopped. It never actually ran for any period of time.

Its not the timing its at tdc im out here with the car now anyother things? With the map being gone for some reason its hard to believe it can just disappear but i guess things are possible but when i plugged it in to the ecu and clicked ignition i could see the graph and everything not sure if that means anything though

Yea ive heard it might be possible to use the standalone with auto but id def like to see what it can do and how its done. I plan on evetnually having a fully built tranny and shooting for 350+ whp so a standalone would be the route id like to take eventually

after connecting your comp to the aem box.. save the map to ur desktop and then send it via email..

ill look it over if changes are needed send back.. then you connect to ecu, click send new calibration..

bc cams?

if so check the cam sensor mag. pickups on the intake cam. make sure they are gapped same as the stock cams.....it wont idle or may not start till you do that. mine where off a bit and someone else had idle issue with a aem with the same problem with the bc cams.....easy fix though

Backfire sounds like bad timing, ignition when the exhaust valves are open

Edit: Bad timing on the motor i mean. If evolution adjusts ur map and u still have backfire issues, i would check the timing on the engine, since it seemes to be doing it even on the factory ECU. Although that could be from larger injectors + factory tune

If you have stock cams then I'm willing to bet you have the timing off somewhere with the timing chain. That seems to be the first mistake with built tC's that wont start.
