meh... rear mount turbos are best done as Homebuilt projects anyway - take a look at this:

that definitely sounds like they didnt do their homework, and neglected to setup the oil system right - most likely the scavenge pump, thoug these setups also benefit from having a check valve on the oil feed side to keep oil from flowing to the turbo from the engine when turned off (oil pressure of 0). a little bit of research would have yielded a proper solution.
