Default Supercharger Boost Guage

Hey i was just wondering why trd makes boost guages for the tacoma, tundra, and 4runner but they don't make a boost guage for the supercharged tC? when i called and asked my dealer about them installing a aftermarket boost guage if i bought a supercharger they said they wouldn't do it, and that it would void warranty. What kind of BS is that?

That's the dealers first line of defense against aftermarket parts. IT's only true if the part that you installed made the car break.
I can't see a boost/vac gauge making a supercharger blow up. Probably prevent you from pushing it too hard.

thats what i was thinking...... i mean they make a boost guage for the tacoma, 4 runner, etc but if anything i think being able to know my a/f, boost, etc would only prevent some of the problems with the s/c

well to be honest they would have to do more than just a gauge install... they would have to modify the intake manifold and install a MAP sensor for the gauge to work. Since our cars use MAF, a "boost" gauge cant read off of that.... Just FYI

could always use an aftermarket gauge which all contain an internal map sensor. there's nothing stopping you from using a boost gauge. all you have to do is tap into a vac line.

TRD said you can use aftermarket Boost gauge and it will not void your warranty. They had it posted on their website when the supercharger first came out.

A boost gauge hooks into the vacuum system. It displays the amount of vacuum or boost pressure on that system.

The vacuum system is run off of the engine, and is tandem with the intake pressure after the super- or turbo-charger. So, all you need to do is measure the air pressure there to measure your boost.

It's not going to require anything more intense than inserting your own vacuum cable in the system somewhere, with an extra nipple on it for the boost gauge.

If you want the boost gauge to light up, the light must be wired up to your light switch. If you want it to be installed "correctly," you must splice those cables. A dealership may not take issue with this if you do so according to code. This can also be done without any soldering by sticking a cable in between some connectors, if you are feeling sneaky and aventuresome.
