John,
I am glad you are happy with the SC and with the installation. Sorry about the synthetic oil that was drained out, but just to put your mind at ease, we use a semi-synthetic oil as a standard replacement oil. I can't remember the brand of oil, but I have seen the information sheets from our oil supplier and I can asure you that it is a quality oil. On the same note, Be careful about that place that you use for your oil changes. Next time you need your oil changed, bring it in and take advantage of your 3 free oil changes courtesy of Scion/Toyota. And if you want to use full synthetic, either bring it in, or buy it from us. The filter and labor are warranty, you'd have to pay for the synthetic oil. Still cheaper than full price at that other place, and I'd like to think that we do a better all around job.

Hey, Tom...

Acutally, I just used them to put in the oil.. I supplied the Mobil 1 (I got at a good rate via the wholesale club) and the TRD oil filter - that I actually got from your parts dept. (I have to find it cheaper somewhere though... thats an expensive oil filter!) They just charged me for "labor" since I did not want to jack up the car and crawl under to change the filter.

AWESOME job on the SC by the way.

If anyone needs/wants to get a SC and have it installed.... Tom at Thompson Toyota/Scion is TOP DRAWER! Worth every penny!!!

Oh and Tom, no worries on the oil. I am just going to run with this and switch back to synth when its time for the next oil change.

Thanks again!!!

John,
Thanks for the kind words, and again, I'm glad that you are enjoying the SC.

Yes, the TRD oil filters are expensive, don't know why, maybe they're hand made by virgins on the summit of Mt Fuji?

Next 3 oil changes, bring in your own parts, the labor is on us, (Scion actually), and I can give your car the once over and make sure everything is in order.
Give me a shout if there's anything else you need for your TC.

^^ Someone did cut one open if I remember correctly, and it was built much better than a standard fram or similar filter, which may explain some of the cost... the rest is probably that toyota emblem on it

Thompson??? My girlfriend's brother Kevin works there. $795 is a high install price...I am getting mine done in a week for $420 + tax (~$467).

I can't wait for it to be in. They ordered the parts today.

Now how about adding 60whp for $800? If you think it feels fast now check this out.

It is not high when you consider they are selling the kit at cost. Plus, these guys are great! I mean flat out awesome in service...

Plus it largely goes by labor rates in any given area. Call Scion Corporate... they will tell you install prices can range from $450 to (get this) $1,200 depending on the area and the skill of the tech.

I'd pay the $795 again in a heartbeat. I highly recommend them.

ok my last quote / post got all messed up.... my comment was in the quote box, and vice versa. not sure how that happened.

Which is a good illustration as to why I did not install the SC myself!

Disappointed in the sound of it though... not enough screaming to it.... Probably has to do with the "tuba", "trumpet" and HC filter in addition to the paper filter. I think it is still too restrictive... but I am not going to mess with it.
It's quiet because the gears are not strait cut. They designed it that way.

Congrats Pghtc! Let me know what kind of mileage your seeing along the way... I just had my first full fillup this morning. I got just over 25mpg.... and I did not get into it.... much

Now I have to figure out how to shift faster for the track.... because this does rev quick!

Anyway, congrats on your SC....

I probably won't have the car back until Friday since I am having some paint protection re-installed and having a TSB on the sunroof (rattles when open) done. Plus the dealer is sending the ECU out to have it flashed since they don't want to buy the programmer just for my car. Ken at TRDsparks is going to flash it for them.

what are other people getting for mpg? What i really want to know is how low is goes if you like to get on it ...because i dont really "baby" my car ...but on the other hand I dont abuse it. I would say that I normally shift at 3,100rpm and go up to 4,100 on a basis.
