Default Supercharger preparation?

Im gonna be getting a TRD supercharger installed soon and heard somewhere that you need to run a few cycles of premium fuel before the install. I do realize that the supercharger requires premium to run correctly. But I noticed in the instructions that one of the steps during the install requires dumping the fuel and replacing it with premium. Anyone have their installing dealership tell them to run a couple cycles of premium before? I just dont want to mess anything up by running octane higher than its supposed to run on stock.

You dont need to runa couple of cycles of premium fuel before. You just need to run it with it in.

Just because it is a lower octane doesn't mean it will do damage. It means that the fuel is "less stable". This means under heavy loads you might get detonation. This sounds like a knocking sound when you accelerate hard. What is happening is the fuel is exploding to early and the pistons skirts are hitting the cylinder walls... not good. Just lay off for a few fill ups. If you wanted to you could run a few tanks with premium so you could really test your s/c. I know thats what I'm doing this spring when i get mine.

ehh.. just on your next fill up before the super goes on fill with 91+, you'll be fine. If you happen not to and re still running 90 and below just don't go into boost and you'll be fine. You don't need to run tanks of 91+ before the super install.

You dont need the premium until you have the superchanrger installed. They will drain your tank too.

yeah, before i take my tc to get the supercharger installed, i'll make sure to fill up with 91 octane and keep the receipt to make sure they don't try to say "we drained and refilled your tank, give us more money!

Thanks everyone for the responses. Think I should get my stock parts back after the install?

It's always a good idea to get your stock parts back.

^ blah why the heck would you do that - buy a $7 bottle of octane booster and tap it off with permium - ride around for 20min and thats it. Very simple guys - dont give the dealer $ to drain gas thats fine

octane booster adds at most 1 point of octane per bottle. I have yet to see one that does more, even states on the back of the bottles it will add roughly 1 point of octane.

^ right but thats for a full tank of gas. 1/2 tank will give you about 2points .... add 2 bottles at 2 points and that will be your 4 points. Then fill the tank up with premium and you are set

I bought the cheapest booster possible a few times within the past few years of having the s/c and ive read that buying the better stuff actually does mean better performance becides just a higher price tag
