^has there ever been a time that you have received a s/c and there was an issue w/ a charger and you couldn't change the bearings? or whatever the issue is

Yes, actually. Working on one thats just like that. It was rebuilt by that Garage1127 guy I believe, the first person to take one of these apart. Problem was somewhere along the lines the bolt either got overtorqued in it or it was cross threaded. Its at a machine shop now getting the screw extracted. Has yours ever been open or rebuilt before?

Why don't you want to keep the SC.

^dunno - ive had 2 sc's in the past few years and I might be thinking about getting a new car in a few years. My car handles good and I might redo the headlights and fog lights next year ....maybe some rims .... Im moving in another direction now with my car. Other then that ...there is no reason. After a rebuilt my s/c will be darn good. Maybe ill even put it back on - first I need to get my car going again and then in a few months ill worry about the s/c (maybe in march or so).

does that not sound bad? for 400 dollars it should be sounding quit with a high whine, not crunching like its about to give. its just sad how u fork out money and u get the same results as u started with,

Actually that sounds about normal for the supercharger up close. For reference search " supercharger tc" on youtube. I think kikcaffine and a couple other people have various superchargers posted on youtube.

I know, it sounds funky - like metal grinding on metal.

Has the sound changed recently? Have you done anything to it?

Comparing your video to kik's, it definitely sounds different. There is a kind of in-constant clicking grinding noise. The metal on metal whine is there too and that part does sound like kik's SC.

Maybe we need do to a little preventive maintenance and inspections on the supercharger. I would probably first start by changing your oil at every 3mth/ 3,000. Then every other oil change or 6000 miles I would take the belt off the s/c and give the s/c a nice spin and check for any abnormal noises or any binding. Also do the same to the tensioner pulleys. If something is possibly wrong take off the s/c and open it up to inspect the bearings/seals, and if damaged rebuild. This may help to avoid destroying the s/c shaft or any other components.

So I had my charger fail about a month ago. Along with destroying the compressor housing, it damaged a piston. The motor is being rebuilt, and a new charger is being put on it now. I bought these bearings, and once I have the car back in m hands I am going to have them upgraded ASAP!
