Default Is supercharger warranty transferrable?

I have the opportunity to buy a S/C from a guy who had it installed and un-installed by a dealership. I was wondering if I buy it from him and take it to my dealership to be installed will they honor the warranty (balance of my 60,000 mile warranty)??

Any dealers on here know?

best people to ask is TRD

Need assistance?

You can contact the TRD Sport Parts Technical Assistance/Customer Service department at 800-688-5912 or trd_help@toyota.com to help you with your Toyota/TRD questions

My recommendation would be to check with the service manager at your dealer. BTW, which one are you working with?

Bob Massie Toyota in White Oak. it's where I bought the car and their installation price is reasonable at $420...and it is only like 15 minutes from my house.

well I'll give them a call. If so I will snag this s/c for $2k instead of $3k.

I'd bet money that the warranty is not transferrable.

Called my dealership and they told me that after speaking with TRD, the warranty would transfer ONLY if I bought another computer reflash kit (which would make up for the cost savings). So even though the s/c would come with a reflashed computer, the computer may not work well in my car as it has learned parameters from the other tC, and they will not cover the replaced computer...just a freshly reflashed one. I decided to just start fresh, and save another $1000. I mean I have $2500 now, so what is another $1000 (including installation)? I would rather not take the chance.

Maybe I'm being wise, maybe I'm being stupid, but I want it done right and to be trouble free. So I'll be waiting another month to save the G.

Not that you can do anything about it, but I think that's a bogus excuse for them to give you. The computer is always "learning", and it would adjust itself for your vehicle after driving it for a while, just as it did for the previous installation. This is really a bummer, the way they're not giving a valid reason, just to get more $$$ from you.

well they are really not getting any more money from me than I would have spent already. Basically they are just telling me that it would be best to start new to keep from having problems in the future. And with the leaking seal from improper installation or from the 9psi pulley, whatever, I think I would rather go new and not take any chances anyway.

The guy was running the ZPI 9psi pulley on it.

If the guy ran a 9lb pulley then the warranty would be shot anyway. The S/C is probably going to start leaking from somewhere like is has with a few others with a pulley.

I think you made the right choice in going with a new unit. You won't have any issues with it and you're totally covered. They way I look at it is you could save $500 but in the long run end up costing youself $5000.

Yeah, he really wants to sell it. he just offered it to me for $1600...so anyone want to buy a used supercharger for $1600, it comes with the ZPI pulley, and a reflashed ECU.

I will be going brand new regardless.

Is that $1600 for the complete sc kit, including the 330cc injectors, stock pulley and other parts?

yes.

It is a complete kit plus an already flashed ECU, and the ZPI pulley.
