Default Timing in Relevance to Boost

For the guys who know. How much timing are you pulling and at what boost level? We were out tuning my boy Louis car today. The guy tuning it was pulling 6 degrees of timing out of the motor I reckon to be on the safe side. Louis is spiking to 9 PSI but is holding only 6 PSI.

So, how much timing are you guys running and how much boost.

I had my tuner pull 1 degree for every PSI over 10.. but I have pistons and rods.

Stock motor on 9PSI you probably dont need to pull more than 2-3 degrees. Depends on the turbo also though.

^^I no my map was pulling 0 timing and I was running 9.5 - 10 PSI. I guess when I get a chance to retune my car, I will be pulling a degree of timing out as I'm running more than 10 PSI.

welli dunno if stock ecu is like a reflashed ecu! but for me it was pulling timing like crazy everytime we tryed to add fuel/take away fuel vise versa. thats why i couldnt flatline the a/f. and maybe is was my meth kit making my ecu go crazy also. but i know my tuner added timing on my car since my ecu was pulling alot of timing and my car would spike a couple of lbs of boost but then whe added a lil more timing and it helped a lil.

Sucks that I have to wait another 2 or so weeks before being able to play around with the tune.

There is no magical number Travis. It's simple. The car will let you know what it needs based upon power made, hiccups and sputters, chits and bangs and MBT. Simple as that.

^^true, but wanted to get a basic of where to start I guess. A/F fine, it's timing that I'm trying to grasp.

only 1 degree or so? wow. i knew my tuner sucks, but damn. He has mine pulling 4.5 degrees starting at 4000 rpms and at redline it is pulling almost 7 degrees. no wonder it feels like it is falling on it's face at wot.
