What would kill a cat? I've heard that too rich will overheat a cat. Could the s/c be running that rich?

I remembered when I bought my tC some kid had gone through (2) cats. The scion sales manger said it was cause the kid was racing the car. I never thought much about this I read this thread. Still the cat was replaced as part of the emission warranty which is separate from the vehicle warranty.

If these bastards try to jack you around with warrantied parts sue em, no more and no less. If they are at all malicious in their dealings with you, you can collect punitive damages, which could be thousands over what you paid. Most lawyers on a civil claim such as yours would work on contingency with nothing out of your pocket.

I have had warranty issues with other products before and It ____es me off something fierce. However, even the threat of a lawsuit for breach of warranty (contract) and people crap themselves, because it will cost them a ton of $ to defend anything, and you have nothing to lose because you pay nothing out of pocket.

You paid for the warranty and everything should work as promised, if not, and they dont make it right, see them in court. You could sue Toyota Inc, the dealership, and possibly several other people.

Crap, crap, crap.

I seem to only be reading about how the SC is a piece of crap. Personally, I have not had any problems with my NA Tc, in fact, Im quite happy with it, but, I now have no intention to pay 3k for blow that does not deliver.

That's something I was very close to doing a few weeks ago.

But going back to the cat issue, I know the bottom end of the s/c fuel curve is pretty rich. A lot of people just end up going with headers as previously posted. I just never got around to it because I wanted to go turbo so long ago.

I think is s/c is keep having problems TRD should have a recall. So far I don't have any problems with my s/c yet. if i'm going to switch to turbo. I'm going to wait until a good stage 2 turbo kit comes out.

Well, if the shaft isn't aligned right, no bearing can handle the stress for long. Even the seal could possibly be worn out this way. Things like broken brackets are defiantly a design problem. Other than that, there's a reason why everyone hasn't burned up a bearing or seal. Maybe those of us with blown s/c's got bad installs. Both of mine where done at the same dealership by the same mechanic and both burned up within a few months.
