TRD Supercharger issues

Hi everyone,
Were all the s/c diffected. Also all the s/c people have problems are in the 05-06 model s/c. Has anybody had problems on the 07-up s/c. I haven't found any information if those s/c are bad too.

As a owner of two superchargers I can tell you that yes the first series S/C had a serious problem with the seals breaking. I am now on the second series supercharger and haven't had any issues. Also for those of you who would say just go turbo ... if you want Turbo power, up your pulley to the 45mm one to get around 15psi.. maxing out the S/C capabilities. With good tuning and some other accessories you can have 300hp.
What are your goals or plans? If you are going to try to max out a SC there is really no point, it wont last, get a turbo. If you max it out and were able to actually see 300whp with a SC the same setup with a turbo would yield at least 375 if not more.

Since May 2010, about 10k miles on now.
I'm not looking to get over 300hp.... to much internal work required after that point. But I'm not saying it can't be done...The S/C can last... the Vortec part is nearly invincible.. it's the TRD attachment drive kit that is the piece of crap. I have the replacement shaft and bearings, I will be getting the replacement seals and etc.
Once all the junk is replaced with the good stuff then the S/C will not only last but be able to take it all the way to 15psi, safely and it will perform awesomely and that's without an IC; adding an air/water IC would do amazing things for the S/C.

Two ways to do it...
Version 1 being welding a regular nut onto the tamper bolt and removing it with a impact wrench.
Version 2 is grinding the tamper bolt down to a nut and using a long handled crescent wrench and a tension wedge on the pulley so it won't move when you try to remove the bolt.

Should you go through with removing it make sure you replace it with a standard bolt. Size is 3/8 -24 x 1, fine thread... I would suggest at least grade 8 instead of 5. ACE hardware should have what you need.

I have purchased the replacement drive shaft and bearing kit from gomka but haven't yet installed it. From what others have said, it is defiantly worth it. Reduces noise and can withstand much higher rotational speeds that come with the smaller pulleys.

It all depends on what you would like to do like Soccerboy said. I personally am not happy with my car's topend, after research I'm in a hard spot to dump $400 to $600 for shaft and bearing upgrades, another $200ish for a 14psi pulley, $300 for aem fic, $300 to $500 for a water meth and $600 for a tune... This will net you probably close to 300whp if your lucky. For that kinda money you can get a used turbo kit and make over 300whp.
Its what you want bro, some peeps are happy with the s/c and some are happier turbo. Its something different to have the s/c and make decent power. However its about money and what you want to do.
I rock a 9.5psi pulley, megan headers, ptuning 3in exhaust with a morriso spiral flow muffler and I'm not happy with the performance. I plan to sell the s/c kit in the future and go turbo and make some power. Tired of getting owned by a lightly modified G35 or Mustang GT...

I want to be a guy who rocks almost 300hp on a S/C instead of a turbo... it's the whole point of the Scion brand, "become one of us by becoming none of us".
