wow how did the s/c blow your motors? was it metal form the s/c when it crapped out?
becouse i just dont see the boost and tune from the s/c blowing motors. becouse its low boost and a conservative tune with a lower volume of air per psi of boost. less then most turbos. but i can see when the s/c crap out some metal shavings can go in to the motor and blow the motor

2yrs of being FI and i was runngin 10.5lbs at one point ...tuned ... and i think i had engine issues a while before that and i didnt know. my local oil shop told me about something and i just blew it off instead of getting it looked at. But yea, I also have an 05. The 06's-08's did not have the engine issues that the 05's had

well if you look at it objectively, most of the S/C problems were in the first release of the s/c, namely for 05/06 tC's. I have had to had repairs done already and a replacement s/c, but I have yet to hear of too many problems with the newer releases for 07-09 S/C

so you might actually benefit a bit out of a s/c

all depends how much money you have and if you are going to mod the setup. if you want to leave it stock and are on a limited budget .... then the s/c is the way to go. Simple as that. If you dont have $800-2000k to fix issues w/ a turbo (thinks happen at some time or nother) ....then ... the s/c is the way to go. If you want sweet hp and have money in the bank for the cold days ....then the turbo is the way to go.

Lol every one has there own thinking on the s/c but who knows for sure...... See me on the other hand I have a 2006 RS 2.0 and I have the s/c on it. I bought mine after buying the car, but it is the gen 2 for the s/c. They had to many problems with the first ones that came out. I have changed out the pully for a NST one two days after I put the s/c on and the boost was 9.5psi, as well as leaving my cold air intake on the setup...... I ran with that for about 2-2.5 years and with in the last 2 months I have put in some gages and chenged the pulley again to the NST 11.5psi one, and have not had any problems and everthing runs great right where it should. So again it all depends on the person lol but IMO I think the s/c was a great buy and I am looking at getting one for my tacoma as well........
