yep.

hey guys i have a question. i didn't pick up the car today (but i saw her and she's doing well indeed). they just have to put in some tranny fluid, upload the emanage map, and then turn the car on and check for leaks in the piping setup. my question is: i was talking to the mechanic about the new radiator fans placement. this is how he did it (excuse my MS paint lack of skill):

is this right? for some reason i was thinking that both fans would be on the opposite side of the radiator as the valve cover... correct me if i'm wrong. he said that the only way they fit was this way, with one on each side. i'll revisit that tomorrow with him if it's not supposed to be this way. help is appreciated.

other than that, the car will def. be ready for pickup tomorrow afternoon after i get off work. i technically could have taken it home tonight, but i was logical and decided it best to let them recheck everything tomorrow with the engine running to make sure it was all in good working order. SO i will have pics tomorrow for sure.

couple other things... first, my AEM oil pressure gauge wiring isn't long enough for some reason (short about 6-10 inches) i'll have to splice in some wire extensions for that, which shouldn't be a problem, just a slight annoyance. also, they took off the insulation-type stuff on the inside of the hood due to the EL manifold being so close to it. i'm sure you guys have done this as well... the mechanic was telling me about an s2000 they worked on once that caught on fire b/c the mani was too close to that insulation.

regarding the 02 sensor, there may be a silver lining. since i will be paying the cost of the new sensor, i might be able to get a free or heavily discounted dyno pull once i break my clutch in . i'm discussing it with the shop and i think i might be getting it. that would be nice indeed. anyway, more coming tomorrow, and thanks for any help you guys can give regarding those fans... i want to make sure everything is perfect lol.

p.s.- hey phil, is your piping still pretty low below the front bumper? i had thought todd was working to resolve this issue, but mine's just as low as your pictures looked when you first put your kit on. i'm not really worried about it, i was just wondering.

both my fans are in front. As long as they have one pulling and one pushing, then i guess it's not an issue, but yeah, they are designed to both be in front. don't know if I have a pic with my bumper off...i'll look.

yes, the insulation on the hood is taken off...you should have gotten some gold heat shield tape to put on the underside of your hood above the manifold to keep the paint from cracking on your hood.

and yes, my pipes are still low...havne' tried adjusting them at all but it' snot a big deal at all as long as I dont' speed up ddriveways. speed bumps are no problem.

so, are they open tomorrow? Or do you have to wait to pick it up till next week?

oh and btw, one is pulling and one is pushing, so it shouldn't really matter i guess... i'd still rather have it done the normal way though

how did you end up routing yours? i didn't look at how the mechanic routed it while i was there, but i'll do that before trying to splice anything tomorrow.

phil, got one more question for you. (matt or brandon jump in if you want)

did you put anything on the end of the nozzle where your vacuum hose used to be from your valve cover to your stock intake tubing? you know the nozzle i mean? at the far right of the valve cover. i saw some pics on page 1 of vegas style and it looks like you just left it open (like mine currently is) but i wanted to know if you had since changed it for whatever reason

honestly, I think I'd rather have one pushing up front and one pulling behind, so I think your good.
And my valve on my cover is still just open. I want to eventually put an oil catch can on there and rout the other end to the intake, like the stock line is.

I dont get the one pushing and one pulling thing, did you mean One fan is pulling air (fan at the back) and the other pushing air to the radiator (front fan)? I need this info to coz i'll be installing an oil cooler and the only place I know where to mount it is in front where the slim fans go..

yeah, the one behind it is pulling. from what i've gathered, either way you do it (the way mine was done or meaty's) will be okay. i'll just have to verify the correct ones are pulling and pushing when i go by the shop after work

the fans are okay, the radiator is a big cooling unit for the coolant that passes through it and if the fans are able to wisk the warm air away and convert the air passing through it to cooler air then you are fine.

in essence, that's what we ALL should have, one that pulls, one that pushes. hell, i'm only running ONE puller.
