Turbotoyotas TC turbo kits. Not in business no more!
Well, I'm picking up my car in about an hour. I just saw it on the dyno at 5. He had it set to 5psi and it was making about 250hp. He was going ot push it up to 300 lke I wanted, but he's hit a wall. Not sure if it's the AEM, he thinks it might be the fuel pump, or like Todd said it's the problem going from Open to Closed Loop. But when he pushes it past 250hp, at about 4K rpm, it freaks out.
I'm going to pick it up right now, cause I miss it, and we are both going to research the issues. I'd rather not have to tune with the 02 pulled cause I'd like to pass smog.
If any one has any helpfull hints, pass them my way.

well i guess its great that you finally have your car back.
i think ill bring my car down there soon and have/ask sue to put my gauges and gauge cluster in. just one less thing that todd and his crew wont have to deal with.
and where did you have the aem thingy put? glovebox?
well what about the price?
oh and btw some guy is selling a fidanza flywheel for 250 on craigslist. as well as a trd clutch. id buy the flywheel but a lil short right now.

I really don't think it's the AEM. I think it's my tuners lack of experience with the tC and it's quirky ecu.
He's going to keep researching, as am I, cause i know there are peopel on here with stock fule pumps, no CEL, and getting over 300hp.
But my current issue is my CEL came on and now my AFRs in boost are in the 14s.

isn't it "true" that a car makes its best power running 10% rich (I think thats relating to n/a) so why under full throttle would it fight to keep it at 14.7? I also read in a tuning book that a car theoretically makes its best power at 11.5:1, although no manufacturer would have a car running that today...Every car should run a little rich at WOT... does your tuner have the 02 and fuel trim maps the exact same like what was said in the F/IC thread??
My all motor IS300 tuned on our custom AEM EMS runs 12.9:1 AFR at WOT with almost 30 degrees of timing and next to zero knock, which is pretty damn good. Most manufacturers set the car to rich @ WOT for a safegaurd against dentonation. Mild timing and tons of fuel! My car stock runs 10.2:1 @ WOT
Sounds like the ECU is in limp mode. The 4K mark of death!!!!! Reset the ECU, and take it to another tuner,

No one's been able to help me find a tuner familiar with the tC in Vegas. The good thing is, I already paid him for the tune, so any little thing that comes up, like this, i just drop by and he helps me out.
CEL was a to rich code! We cleared it, I drove around, he logged with his laptop and we leaned it out a bit. So far so good.
He's been in contact with some techs at AEM and their gonna get back to him with some more detail, as it comes out with testing, as the FIC is still pretty new.
I'm also trying to get a couple other boosted tCs over to him so he can figure them out. I have faith in him. He's done reall good with Hondas, evo's and STI's. He's now trying to get into the tC.
Oh, right, gotta go take a pic of my dyno sheet.
be back on a little later!

Todd said unplugging the primary 02 will make your life so much easier in tuning because it open loops at 2000 instead of 4000. I will find out today because I finished up the install yesterday and today it is going to the tuners at 10. I will let you know meaty how they do but I am also running the blue and not your AEM so I don't think it will be much help to you. We can switch stage 1 GT manly stories as we are boosting around though.
SWEET!
Like I said, after we changed some stuff, it was running great. However, i went for a drive last night and I noticed that now, no CEL, but i'm getting 14s AFR partial thottle and 11s AFR at full boost. Still got work to do, i guess.

Don't stress to much about the 14 a/fs at part throttle. Your main goal is what you have....your in the 11's at full throttle(full boost). You should be fine
Have fun and glad you have her back

I don't know about you meaty but have you gotten any reviews on the turbo. I dropped my car off at the tuners yesterday and walk in their garage and that have 7 turbo'd cars just sitting in there. A couple STI's and a few others and they took one look at my setup and were like wow, very impressive fabrication on this turbo, who did it for you. I called Todd and let him know about the review he got from these guys but figured it would be good to put on the board.
The turbo toyotas kit IS impressive.

Good and bad news on Vegas tC tuners....
I'll watch this and see how your tC goes with Vegas "untrained with tC and experimenting with meaty's tC" tuners...
If they did well in a few months without blowing your tCs engine, I'll get a tune here in Vegas with the Dezod Custom BB and pretuned ECU or a WHY GT Stage1...

It all depends on if you are running a stand alone or a piggy back. A stock computer will try to run 14.7 (Stoichiometry ) because it is ment to do that. it is your job/ piggy back to tell it otherwise. 11.5 :1 is in no way the best power level. But once again it all depends on how SAFE you wish to be. I have made 1088 rwht and 968 rwhp on a corvette that was safe. could we have got more out of it being crazy? yes but it is once again what you want to do. The Scion TC does respond better if you unplug the primary O2 (pre Cat) but that is a fix for a long term problem. i may be wrong but i am also a little intoxicated to but what do i know.

I didn't mean to say best power, I meant to say best torque... 12.7 is supposedly perfect for forced induced cars (although that is not safe on ours) My reference for that 11.5 a/f number is in the book "how to tune and modify engine management systems", in the beginning of the book and I didn't say that was always the case, I just read this in that book... I haven't heard the unplug fix, but sounds like it would work.
